Even a 50 cent dollar won't save manufacturing in Ontario and Quebec. Proof that Dutch Disease is a lie. Like most everything else the left comes up with.

A high dollar curtails inflation. No inflation means no cost of living increases in union collective bargaining.

Is Trudeau out to break Chretien/Martin's record setting 2001 51¢ dollar?

The Canadian dollar dropped below the 70-cent US level for the first time since May 2003 on Tuesday.

Nearing midday, the loonie was changing hands at 69.94 cents US, down by about a third of a cent.

When flipped into the other direction, that means one U.S. dollar can now purchase almost $1.43 Canadian.

The Canadian dollar was led down by oil, which was threatening to dip below $30 US a barrel for the first time since Jean Chretien was prime minister.

The dollar and oil were taking their lead from stock markets, which gave up early gains to head lower on Tuesday. The TSX was just slightly lower, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the broader S&P 500 in New York were slightly higher.

The bleak mood of the day's trading was summed up in a report from the Royal Bank of Scotland, which advised clients to "sell everything" in a report early Tuesday.

Watching Power Play tonight I got the distinct sense that everything is in one hell of a mess and nobody, nowhere, nohow has a clue what is happening or what to do about it!
- Dollar devaluated
- Oil down below $30
- Food prices rising out of reach of the average Canadian
- Subsidizing Bombardier
- Debating the sale of armoured vehicles to Saudi Arabia

Government blame everything on the previous government, has a plan but can't or won't say what it is.
The only conclusion one can come to is that Canada is in deep, deep doodoo!

It's time Canada asserted the sovereignty of currency, its right to define its value and exchange as existed prior to the onset of Monetarism. That is the global Free Trade in Currency and credit where it is defined by Wall Street Currency Hedge Funds.. for profit.. which exceeds ALL reponsibility and consequences.

It's time to ditch the corrupt system of Global Free Markets which is leading the world to a economic catastrophe of unkown depth and duration.. but worse than has been seen since the Dark Ages. It's time to put these Hedge Fund Managers.. and the running dogs of Global Free Market in the IMF, WTO, World Bank.. in prison.

If an item lands in a Canadian Port it is duty and tarrif free. If it lands in a US Port the same item falls under NAFTA and you get hosed. Couriers will deliberately route goods through US hubs so they can nail Canadians with broker fees. When I import I get the manifest and preclear with CBSA and avoid the courier brokering scam.

They say the dollar will probably drop to about 59 cents. Gas continuing to fall. Trudeau says Canada needs jobs (Ya Think??). says he has a plan but it could take weeks to months ro disclose his plan. Such a great plan to vote this loser in!

Liberal government and a Dipper government voted to office in Alberta.. Wonder what those idiots are thinking who voted NDP in Alberta as they watch their house value drop by 1/3 in price... an average loss of $120,000 dollars.. most are now under water paying for an over inflated mortgage... Sorry I just don't have any sympathy for those idiots.

The average house in Fort McMurray has lost $117,000 or 20% of its in value in one year

Not sure why I'm happy about this, but I am.. punishment for voting NDP.

35,000 jobs lost, and total job losses total 50,000 +

For sure people look at the NDP government in Alberta and on a National level the NDP will never be elected.
