Semantics. If Trudeau was to cease serving as MP, it would still be a Liberal government. I assume the deputy PM would be made PM as an interim until the Liberals selected somebody permanently.But it still would be a Liberal government as they have a sizable majority.
If it were a minority Parliament, it might end up being the Governor General's call.

Uh, if you're going to bail, the idea is to NOT jump aboard a sinking ship. There was a time I wanted to live in the states so I did for about 6 months. Not because there was anything wrong with Canada but just to experience it and see just how close they really were to us. Spent time in MA, MN and KY and I'll admit, I met some fantastic people and had a good time while I was there but man, was I ever glad to come home again.There are a lot of Albertan's who are considering the idea of separation..

As long as a sovereigntist advocates for the secession from Canada of a province in accordance with our constitution, and in a manner consistent with the Reference re: Secession of Québec and the Clarity Act (S.C. 2000, c. 26), it is an unfortunate but legitimate democratic and political debate.

As far as Canada goes, Alberta is the number #1 Province - Conservative to the core.
The only Liberals their are the Carpet Baggers who moved their for jobs and purchased over priced homes.... Now they are stuck with their over priced home that nobody wants and no jobs.

In a majority situation, this leader would no doubt be a Liberal. If not, that appointment would be only until the Liberal party did select their own leader.
