I was in our military(RCAF) when Dief cancelled the Arrow. The Arrow was an icon before it was built. I probably wouldn't have flown it. The CF-100 drivers would have gotten the first crack at it because of their multi-engine experience. What most military people have never understood is why we cancelled the Arrow, a twin engine, supersonic intercepter, and bought the F-101 Voodoo, a twin engine, supersonic intercepter with half the range.

I thought I would vote for PET because he was popular, but then I can't be that shallow. He's in the middle somewhere.

"He was, after all the spiritualist and other jokes about his private life, our greatest prime minister. He tried to understand the country, he was capable of intellectual flexibility and change, and he attracted and held able colleagues. He was an intellectual who was sympathetic to ideas--our first!"
