This pipeline is going to take forever to complete unless they just ignore and run over the environmentalists concerns.
The thing is that the pipeline would only be really good for the economy in the short term. After a decade it actually becomes a handicap to both parties involved.

When might you expect that they'll be economical?
10 generations will pass before they'll start to worry about running out.Renewables.

Renewables.
Unfortunately we don't have a decade to wait and see if some of the clean tech will actually work. Then there is the not insignificant fact that many opposed to this pipeline are also opposed to clean renewable energy sources. They have protested windmills because they "might" kill seabirds and lower their property values. That was on Quadra Island where Susuki has his retreat. Wonder how he gets there with out leaving a carbon footprint?

It depends on how much we invest now. The sooner we invest, the easier it will be to pay off those investments later. The longer we wait, the more difficult it is to develop the collateral.
Try this...replace the word carbon for people and see how some of the "green" statements sound.Unfortunately we don't have a decade to wait and see if some of the clean tech will actually work. With respect and with the above comment in mind, it's a little early to state that the pipeline will be useless in 10 years.

There aren't 50,000 a day dropping dead already while we burn food by law?Do you enjoy fear mongering?
