Re: Americans arrested in Haiti over suspected illicit adoptionsFeb 7th, 2010
That is how things are done in third world countries, JBeee. There is no such thing as a fair trial; our rules of evidence do not apply there. Somebody who would be found not guilty in our system would very likely be found guilty in places like Haiti (based upon the same evidence).
On the other hand, there is the possibility of bribery, or of buying oneís way out, which does not exist in our system. They showed on TV, same thing happened in Chad a while ago. A French citizen was convicted of some crime. But Chad is dependent upon French aid, so the president of Chad pardoned him and sent him back to France.
If Clinton does indeed buy justice here (and we donít know that for sure), it wonít be any different.
