You take the Qur'an too literally. do we not very much live in a very different earth today than we did 1200 years ago? Wasn't the 19th century a century of worldwide upheavals in science, philosophy, politics, economy, etc. etc. etc. How was that not the end of the old world and the start of a new that we are still learning to live in?
So you want that I should take the Quran not too literally .. how 1/2 literally? or 1/4 literally? Should I believe in part of the Quran and leave the rest?
Moreover, you admire the 19th century, and now you are in the 21st century .. will people in the 28th century laugh at and ridicule you?
What has the truth to do with centuries? Weren't Noah's teachings like those of Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Mohammed?
Therefore, if you are a materialist and the material advances allure to you .. of course, it is said the Dajjal or the Imposter will deceive most people because of his achievements (the inventions like the train, the mobile phone, the ressussitation of the recently dying [like the electric shock] bringing them to life again [some of them of course] will certainly deceive the materialist and atheist who are liable to blaspheme against the truth and against God's religion.
In addition, the wealth of the disbeliever allures to you.. most atheists, the enthusiastic and idolaters are wealthy and authorized with power and position .. this is to test you: will you follow the alluring of the world or you will stick to the truth and belief.
Quran 2: 85, which means:
(85...Do you then believe in part of the Book and disbelieve in part?
What should be the reward of those among you who do this, except disgrace in this life of the World, and on the Day of Judgment shall they be driven to the most severe punishment; for God is never unaware of all the [evil work] you [Jews] are doing.
86. These [Jews just mentioned] are they who have bought the life of this World instead of the Next Life.
Consequently, their retribution will not be commuted for them [on Judgment Day], neither will they be helped.)
