Zones of the future Earth​

Earth will gradually slow down until it will stop its axial rotation after 1000 years from the time Venus stopped its axial rotation.

Then the hemisphere facing the Sun, will have a perpetual day and it will be very hot.
The other half will have a perpetual night, and it will be very cold.

Some other zones will be intermediate: the afternoon, the evening glow zone and the dawn which will have less heat and less coldness, but all that is relative.

If one is in the afternoon zone, he will see the Sun like we see it at afternoon: about one hour from setting down, but at that time it will not set down; it will remain as it is because the Earth will have stopped its axial rotation.

And so on the rest of the zones of the Earth at that time.

The standstill of the earth

In the attached imaginary drawing:
1 the zone of the noon: very hot.
2 the zone of the afternoon: less in heat, but still very hot.
3 the zone of the evening glow: cold, but less than the night zone
4 the zone of the dawn: very cold, but less in coldness than the night zone
5the zone of the night : very cold and freezing.

Indeed this is BS.... that Discovery Civilization channel had this as one of their hypothetical disasters to freak out about.... they went on for an hour describing what would happen and how long it'd take for the earth to suddenly stop and all the destruction would occur.......

Then of course at the end they state "Now this will never happen, but to see what happens when something like this occurs helps to show just how fragile our earth really is"

Kiss me arse Discovery, you just wasted an hour of my life where I could have been watching Family Guy....

It's like that other one where they describe what would happen if all humanity just..... Suddenly Vanished.

Thanks for the sci-fi fear mongering, it was entertaining, but the sad thing is that there are people out there who believe this crap and start freaking out. It's stupid shows like these that probably made that nut bar hold hostages at Discovery because he believed them to be true.

that one about vanishing? this is actually quite accurate. if you think about it, when there are no humans to take care and maintain buildings and nuclear plants and the streets and power plants, things would deteriorate.

streets don't take care of themselves you know?

all these sky scrapers may be able to last for a few hundred years but they will eventually need to be torn down or have their structures worked on.

if we weren't here they'd eventually break down and collapse.

the Nuclear plants have to be maintained to avoid any problems, no humans you can't avoid the problems.

that show is pretty factual and very educational.

I believe that by the time this possibly happens that scientists will find a way to make the earth spin themselves.

Why the Earth will stop its axial rotation​

The cause of the Earth axial rotation is the heat present in its core. Obviously, this heat will not last for ever, but will finish and the Earth will gradually cool little by little in the course of time.

Therefore, when the Earth central heat will finish, it will come to a standstill; i.e. it will not rotate around itself; and that will take place for two reasons:​

The first is the depletion of its central heat,
and the second is the large amount of particles and meteorites that continuously fall on it from the space; so that its cold crust will increase, and it will stop its axial rotation.​

Then there will be no succession of the day and night, but the night will be everlasting till Doomsday; because the side facing the sun will have an everlasting day, that no night will succeed, while the side -that is not facing the sun- will have an everlasting night that no day will succeed.​

God -be exalted - said in the Quran 28: 71-72​

قُلْ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِن جَعَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمُ اللَّيْلَ سَرْمَدًا إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ مَنْ إِلَهٌ غَيْرُ اللَّهِ يَأْتِيكُم بِضِيَاء أَفَلَا تَسْمَعُونَ . قُلْ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِن جَعَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمُ النَّهَارَ سَرْمَدًا إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ مَنْ إِلَهٌ غَيْرُ اللَّهِ يَأْتِيكُم بِلَيْلٍ تَسْكُنُونَ فِيهِ أَفَلَا تُبْصِرُونَ​

To each one of these zones will be its criteria:

The noon zone​

It will be very hot: the hottest region because it is always facing the vertical sun rays. If one is in that region he will see the sun above his head in the sky.

The temperature will reach hundreds of degrees, the seas will evaporate, the mountain rocks will be smashed into dust and the ground will be seared.

The wind will blow because of the different pressures because of the heat.

Then all living creatures will die and perish: the plant will burn, the animal will die, mankind will perish in that region; at the start they will go to the subterranean caverns under the ground, but later all will die and none will remain alive in that zone.

God - be glorified - said in the Quran 74: 32-34

كَلَّا وَالْقَمَرِ . وَاللَّيْلِ إِذْ أَدْبَرَ . وَالصُّبْحِ إِذَا أَسْفَرَ​

The explanation:
(No, [they cannot get rid of the torment; I swear] by the moon [when it divides into two halves!]​

And [by] the night when it retires [from you, and will never return to you!]​

And [by] the morning when it shines forth [and you will never have night again.] )​

When the Earth stops turning we can all go live on the dark side and use the hot side to heat and light the cold one.

Or maybe if we pray to Allah hard enough, he can change his mind about it all.

You cannot do this: the dark side is far from the hot side, and it is frozen: no food: starvation, and everything is burnt in the hot side.

Yeah, we've tried to explain that to him before Jake, he doesn't get it. He thinks the moon doesn't rotate and gravity is affected by temperature and comets are balls of fire and meteorites don't make craters, and on and on. The Quran's his science text.

Moon does not rotate around its axis: we see only one of its faces, the other side is invisible to us.

The gravity is affected by heat: this is obvious observation:
Sun is hotter and attracts the Earth which is less in heat.
Earth is hot and attracts the Moon which is cold: no heat in its core.
And so on every hot object is attractive and rotates around its axis, while every cold object is dead: does not rotate around itself and is attracted to the hotter object.


Comets are balls of fire: emitted as large sparks out of the sun; and they are of large number, and not any "dirt and ice".

Meteorites may cause some craters but not like those caused by comets: the comet dig in the ground to burry inside the Earth, while the meteorite stays on the surface of the Earth; in addition the pit of the meteorite is like that caused by a rock falling, while the crater of the comet has a flat bottom because of the extreme heat of the falling comet.

The afternoon zone​

When anyone in this zone looks to the Sun, he will see it in the sky in a site as we see it at afternoon: it will be like the present sun at midway (and less) between noon and sunset. The sun will keep up at this site till Doomsday.

In this zone, the temperature will be very hot, but not the extent of the noon zone (no. 1) in the attached drawing.

Anyhow, the circumstances will worsen more and more and everything will lead to complete loss.

This is in the Quran 103

1. وَالْعَصْرِ
2. إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لَفِي خُسْرٍ
3. إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ​

3 - the sun glaw or twilight
This is the first region of the dark side: it is like the time when the sun has just set; the sun is red at the horizone.

It is still somewhat hotter than the following dawn region.

As in the Quran 84: 16-17

فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالشَّفَقِ . وَاللَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ​

The explanation:
(But no, I swear by the twilight [zone: the zone intermediate between the day zone and the night zone!]​

And by the night and [by] all [the beasts] that it will round up!)​

So, the ‘twilight’ is the zone intermediate between the day and the night.​

The correct is:
The sun has set, there is no sun appearing in this zone; it is like when the sky is red after sunset [the sunset afterglaw]and before sunrise [the twilight].

4- The dawn region:
This is after the night zone; it is the region when time is before the twilight or after the sunset after-glaw.
The region of the dawn will be somewhat better than all other zones of Earth when it will stop its rotation, but still it is dangerous: because most of the comets will fall on this region [and the region of the sun-glaw and the perpetual night] causing much catastrophe and a large number of people will perish by the impact of comets.


This is in the Quran 89: 1-5 about this dawn region:

وَالْفَجْرِ . وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ . وَالشَّفْعِ وَالْوَتْرِ . وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ . هَلْ فِي ذَلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِّذِي حِجْرٍ​

"The explanation:
([I swear] by [the region of] the dawn!

And by the ten nights [preceding the standstill of the earth!

And by the even [: the two planets: Mercury and Venus] and the odd [: the planet Mars!]

And by the night when it will spread [ like an infection, from one planet to another: from Mercury to Venus to Earth to Mars!]

Will these be enough as an oath for an intelligent man?)

This is an oath; the ‘dawn’ is the position intermediate between the night [zone] and the day [zone], that is when the Earth will come to a standstill from its rotation; because the oath is in the present tense in Arabic, as does the word ‘when’ indicate, and as it is observed in His saying -be exalted - ​

وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ​

i.e.( And by the night when it will spread [, like an infection, from one planet to another: from Mercury to Venus to Earth to Mars!] )

And as such are the ‘ten nights’; for they will take place when the central heat of the earth will decrease, so that, at that time, its rotation will be very slow; so that the duration of the day will be three months, and the night – too – will last three months.

Therefore, when ten of such long nights will pass, the earth will stop its rotation because its central heat will finish. At that time, the duration of the day will be one thousand years; and similarly the night [in the other side] will be. After that, Doomsday will take place.

>> (And by the even [: the two planets: Mercury and Venus] and the odd [: the planet Mars!] ): the ‘even’ is an indication of both Mercury and Venus; because they will stop before the Earth; because their heat will finish before the finishing of that of the Earth. For this reason, God mentioned the ‘even’ before the ‘odd’, while it is expected that the odd is to be mentioned before the even. The ‘odd’ is an indication of Mars; because it will stop after the Earth.

The ‘night’ is that long night which will last one thousand years, and (when it will spread) means: when it will be transmitted to Mars, or when it will spread to Mars; like their saying: The disease is spreading among people, means the infection is transmitted among them from one person to another; this infection comes from Mercury to Venus, then to Earth then to Mars.

As there will be a long night in the Earth, likewise – in Mars – there will be a long night. So when the night in the Earth will have lasted one thousand of our present years, the Sun – at that time – will break up, and Doomsday will take place. This is a threatening oath.

[The implication of this threatening oath]

The interpretation of these Quranic revelations:
You will see, O inhabitants of the Earth, what punishment and torment will afflict you, when it will stop its rotation, and the position of the dawn will be intermediate between the night [zone] and the day [zone], and ten long nights will cover you, that will awaken you from sleep, due to the torment and punishment that will afflict you during them.

And just as how Mercury and Venus had stopped their rotation, and their inhabitants had been afflicted by torment, the same will also afflict the Earth inhabitants. Then this disease will spread to Mars, so that it will stop its rotation and its inhabitants will be afflicted with the same torment afflicting the Earth inhabitants.

Then what are you going to do on that day? Who will save you from God’s torment when it will take place?

>> ( Will these be enough as an oath for an intelligent man?) i.e. is there, in the oath that have just been mentioned, a convincing for any wise man, so that he will believe firmly in the oneness of God [: that He is One, according to the First Commandment], and the truthfulness and honesty of Mohammed [and that he did not lie]? And will this warning be enough as an advice to any one who may accept the advice, and a sufficient bidding for a mindful man?"

How the planets will stand still


"The falling down of the comets will be on the side of the everlasting night and on the evening-glow zone; because these two zones will be cold, so the attraction will be between them and the comets more than the attraction with the side [or the hemisphere] of the everlasting day; because the heat causes a repelling between the earth and the comets.

God -be exalted - said in the Quran 84: 16-17​
