So Dion has officially announced his resignation. Thoughts?

Personally, I thought he was a poor leader. At the same time, however, I'm not sure if the blame could be squarely put on his shoulders when a big part of the problem is the Liberal platform. (Carbon tax, corporate tax cuts, ambiguities on Afghanistan and continually missing in opposing Harper's government).

I don't know who'll be bidding for leadership next. I'd like to see Michael Ignatieff take a swing at it. I don't know why Bob Rae is still around in his political scene. Anyone still remember when he was an NDPer and slamming the Liberals? Remember when he was pooping on Ontario when he was the Premier? And now that Dion is down, he's taking a few kicks at him too. And don't forget he's an active member of the Jewish National Funds.

Anyway, appreciate your thoughts on Dion and Liberals' future.

The Liberals are in deep doo-doo.

I am a Conservative Party member.....I actually liked Dion, and had he espoused a platform that I thought was reasonable, I might even have voted Liberal for the first time in my life.

But instead, he went on his own principles, which included massive spending, a tax that would have increased prices on everything, and a promise to seize a bunch of my guns.

Oh well. he who has principles loses. In this case, thank heavens.

But I digress.

The Liberals are broke, their revenues from gov't have tanked due to their poor showing, and their membership does not step up to the plate. A piece on the CBC today said 80% of the Conservative's massive war chest came from donations of less than $200. Yet only 5% of Liberal Party members donate money.......and now they are into an expensive leadership race.

The Liberals traditionally drew from huge corporate donations......now illegal.

Anyway, they've got one more kick at the can.....they'd best make it good.

dion was a disaster for the liberal party. It will be quite a while before they can recover from the mess he created.
