Dodge Caliber (2006, I think) - Budget

From Miami to Orlando.. this car got about 8000km from me while I was in Florida. Thank god it was unlimited milage  So yeah, this was OK. The car didn't have any real power though but I'm used to driving German or Swedish! I've never tested out an American car on a German freeway

When I was in Germany I bought a Pontiac convertable from an American who was being shipped back to the states. This car had power everything and a big V-8 and it was an absolute pig at anything over 120 k on the Autobahn. This car had one redeeming quality........ It was a marvelous "crumpet collector". Girls seemed to love this huge car that almost needed hinges to get through some of the small towns in the Black Forest. I traded that car for an Austin Healey 100-6 roadster. A nice handling car and probably the lightest of the
"big Healeys". Putting the top up was a finicky process. You had to get the canvas and the metal pieces out of the trunk and sort of build the top with a lot of dome fasteners. It did keep most of the rain out. On a sunny day it would do 160 kph all day on the Autobahn.

The old Ford LTD Stationwagon, I tell ya. It's a real shaggin' wagon. You gotta get the one that rolls the rear window down with the key. You know the one? The one with the secret storage compartment in the rear? The one where the back door folds down or to the side. I tell ya, the LTD wagon is where it's at.

And that fake wood paneling on the side? Well, will wonders ever cease? The Ford engineer that came up with that was simply brilliant. I think we're ready for the return of artificial wood panelling in the 21st Century.

My guess is that Chrysler will bring back the phoney wood on the new Vipers and Prowlers... Possibly even the Ram and Dakota... Let's hear it for fake wood, man!

160kmh? Pfffft! That's slow :D Ever driven 250 on the Autobahn? *snicker*
I bought that car in 1958 and remember this was a car that cost around twenty eight hundred dollars new. I'm sure there were cars in that day that would do 250 kph: Porsches, Mecedes, etc but I'm sure none of them would have come close to fitting my budget.........;-)
Seriously, I never owned or drove a car that went that fast. Didn't have the money when I was young and in Germany. Back in Canada there is no place where I would want to go that fast......

My first car was a 73 Torino 4 dr with a 400 engine. Fkr could FLY...but back then (1980) gas was cheap.

My fav car I've owned would have to be the original Grand Am (with the straight/square rear window) I loved that car.

NBC rented a Chrysler Sebring convertible for me for a shoot in the states. I had never driven a convertible before. It was awesome.

I think plastic wood paneling in cars could become popular again and you should talk to some design people. I understand there's quite a bit of real wood not being used in houses though maybe that could be persued as well, it's green for christ sake.

No! I don't want green fake wood. I want fake wood that actually looks like wood. Oh, and big whitewall tires. Yeah... There's danger on the edge of town... Take the king's highway, baby... You know what I'm talking about.
