RE: World Intelligence (R

He's ignoring that those he considers to be the left spoke out against all of the things he has mentioned. We are now speaking out against what's going on in Iraq. No doubt in ten years when we speak out against something else, he'll be asking why we were quiet on the Iraq issue.

He wasn't paying attention before, or has conveniently forgoten the discussions and protests, and is using that to try to claim moral superiority. It's like watching a drowning man grasp at straws.

So what do you suppose would have happened had Saddam completely complied and it was proven for all the world that he had no WMD without the US invading?

Sanctions would have been lifted, France and Russia would have gotten the contracts, Saddam would have adopted the Euro as his oil currency and pushed the rest of OPEC to do the same. The US would likely have invaded Venezuela by now.

Really, I always kind of thought that if the ME had known that Saddam had no WMD that one of those countries would have invaded Iraq and tried to control more oil.........Cause it's not like Saddam would have been able ot protect the country.

They didn't need to invade though, Twila...they already had the contracts and, through that, control of the oil. It isn't that they are saints or anything, just that they had accomplished their goal already. The US had lost the diplomatic/political game so they changed the rules.

Re: World Intelligence (Russia, France...) on WMD Was the Sa

Do any of you care about these people more than the Americans ?

This question is irrelevant.

It's only the US that is using a concern for "the freedom of the Iraqi people" as an excuse to bomb, torture and poison them so they can rob them blind.

No other countries care (though many people do), but it's only the US that is massacring them, so don't try to play the moral relativism card on your corrupt government's behalf.

I didn't see Europe march in the streets about Milosovec.
Instead Europe marched in the streets protesting their countries joining the US and Britain in going to war to stop Milosovec.

I didn't see Canadians give two Loonie Birds for Saddam's police state making people disappear Argentina style.
Instead this was a man Canada and Europe wanted to do business with. And this crap about establishing the dollar or the euro as the currency in Iraq is hogwash.

And Brenner's rules have no force at all once the Parliament of Iraq settles in, just like no one other than Kurds and Shi-ites will own the oil, just like the Indians in America run and own casinos and don't help their own.

Answer - well then open your eyes.

The problem there was that Saddam was America's dictator. Amerika used Saddam to hit back hard against Iran for dumping the Shah and embaressing them by taking American hostages. America trained and supplied Saddam's troops. America trained the Iraqi intelligence corps. America provided logistics to Iraq and endevoured to perpetuate a war of attrition.

Answer - Brenner's gospel is spelled out in the new Constitution, which should have no force of Law as Iraq is no longer sovereign, but an occupied land. And you are right that the Kurds and Shiah will own the oil because the U.S. have consciously suppressed any aspirations the Sunni minority may have had. That is Brenner's legacy.

And now we have your racism showing against the 'Indians in America'. Why do you constantly spew out venom without any knowledge of the subject? Ignorance cannot be a defence if you choose to ignore the facts. Perhaps you should review the contracts of these casinos and then come back to the forum with a massive apology.

So your complaint is that we're not good enough at motivating people? You may have a point....it was hard to get people interested. Then APEC and Seattle happened and things changed.

Don't say that nobody spoke out though, because we did. It was pressure from what you term "the left" that created the human rights groups. It was us who put pressure on governments around the world to drop the sanctions on Iraq.

It was pressure from what you term "the left" that made governments notice what Milosevic was doing, then stood back in horror when you decided to bomb civilians in order to save them. Of course people marched against your war because nobody wanted you killing people in their names.

Just because your reporters didn't bother to report the whole story, don't try to pretend that the story never existed.

"world intelligence was the same ... as Bush's"

How convenient that Bush and his supporters forgot that Hans Blix, Dr Muhammed El Baradie, and the IAEA said the exact opposite of Bush's "facts".
