I've no idea why the goal was accepted. Maybe it's because the Australian keeper is so much taller than the player who knocked him over (Takamura?). I think the Australian coach was 'fighting' with the fourth official to have a look at the video replay screen.

It'll be a pity if that's the only goal in the match.

Edit: I don't think the Japanese player actually meant to knock him over or anything, but there was interference.

Australia scores three goals in the last ten minutes of the game!

Australia 3 Japan 1

This was a great game :) I saw the 1st Aussie goal as I was checking out at the supermarket and the next two were scored right when I got home :)

Way to go Australia!

Aloisi and Cahill scoring all of Australia's goals, and both of them play, or used to play, in England. Cahill plays for Everton and Aloisi used to play for Coventry City.

It's half-time in the Group E game.

USA 0-2 Czech Republic.

Unless the USA can make a miracle comeback in the second half and win the game, then it's the end of their World Cup dream for at least another 4 years. In a group also containing Italy and Ghana, who play each other later, it'll be hard for the losers of the USA/Czech Republic game to qualify for the next round.

USA still got a chance.

Czechs aren't playing very well. Their major attacks are ending with goals, however.

Ball possession was 64 -36 in favor of USA.

Czech's defence isn't good. USA still got a chance. They need Australian's miracle to score 3 goals.

I'll be cheering for England. I'm not sure who's going to win though.

It's now USA 0-3 Czech Republic, with just over 10 minutes remaining.

Czech Republic's defence isn't very good? The American defence is surely worse, having now conceded 3 goals with the Czechs not conceding any.

The reason why the US have so much of the possession is because the Czechs are allowing them to have the ball and then, when the Yanks lose possession, the Czechs hit them with their dangerous counterattacks.

As things stand, the Americans are about to suffer the biggest defeat of the tournament so far. No team in this World Cup has yet lost by a margin of more than 2 goals.

It's finished United States 0-3 Czech Republic.

Rosicky scoring 2 of the goals. He has just become an Arsenal player and you can see why the London team has bought him. His first goal was fantastic.

Czech Republic and Italy will be the two who qualify from this group with one of them having to face Brazil in the Last 16.

Australia never really looked like they were going to score ... until they did! Justice, though, as the Japanese goal was a result of a foul on Schwarzer. Good on ya, Aussies!

2/3s of the US-Czech match was played in the Czech half of the pitch. America couldn't take their chances while the Czechs did.

Ditto for Italy-Ghana.

What an AMAZING game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been grinning from ear to ear all day!!!!!

Firstly, that goal should NOT have been allowed and the ref even admitted he made a mistake after the match!

At 80s mins....I gave up hope, shed a tear and told myself it was all over.

Then BAM, Cahill equalises at 82 mins!!! I was jumping for joy, 1 point is better than none!! Especially when you have Brazil in your group!!!

Then at 86 mins, Cahill the GOD, does it again!!! Pure genius!! I burst into tears of joy and couldnt sit down cos I was jumping and screaming too much!

I just had a feeling that we werent quite done yet......and at 92 mins, Aloisi (who got us to Germany in the first place in the Uruguay qualifiers match during the penalty shoot-out) locks it in for us with another goal!!!! That moment was MAGIC! Words cannot describe the joy and pride that Australia feels right now.

I got one more thing to say..........

BRING ON BRAZIL BABY!!!!

Glossprincess, bare in mind that was Japan, not exactly the highest calibre team, Brazil would walk all over the soccer roo's with that performance.

I was sat on a bus earlier and some aussie fella started bagging the english football team, come on, Japan, Togo, Australia, the US, come on, none of these teams realistically have a prayer, it's nice to see them play, but I'm afraid they'll not do much.

I did like the interview with the Canadian in the English squad though, Owen Hargreaves (although he's spent a bit too much time in germany and now speaks at a lightening pace), he was quized by the Swedish press, a female swedish reporter said:

"Well Owen, do you think that Sweden will have a good chance at winning the group, I mean, we always beat you and we've only got paraguay left"

THATS ARROGENCE

so he just replied:

"nope, for sure we know T & T have a great side, Shaka is amazing in goal and, unlike other teams, we dont think they'll be walk overs and we'll treat them with the respect they deserve"

class response, personally I'd throw in the the fact that maybe England have never beaten sweden in living memory, but they are a better team, and things can change.

everyone hates them just imagine the reaction if they won

Which, of course, they won't.

Until the Yanks stop playing games like baseball, basketball and ice hockey, and start playing a proper game like football, then they'll never win the World Cup.

The Australians should stick to rugby and cricket. "Soccer" is not big in Oz. They need to concentrate on beating England in the Ashes in cricket in the winter. They are another team who'll not win the World Cup.
