People died and die of infectious diseases in Canada, but not at an alarming rate. When did it happen? You have to get some facts to justify your statement. Names, dates, etc. Worksafebc isdoing "preventative" advertising, and yes, it is misinformation because they have no mandate to worry about the world. They can do nothing about Sudan or Chad.

Let me see, what was it you said:

Did people die of infectious diseases twenty years ago in Canada before the handwashing hysteria broke out? No.

So, it's not 'no', but 'yes'.

And you're accsuing Worksafe of being confused?

Yes. Worksafebc is worrying about the world. They ought not to worry about the world. I don't give them my tax dollars to worry about Asia and Africa where infectious diseases are a problem due to a lack of plumbing.

The facts state that infectious diseases are not big killers in Canada.

The facts state that disease transmission is a huge work place problem, even if it doesn't KILL people here, and that advertising, awareness campaigns, are about getting it through with the most drastic consequences. If you've ever had an entire staff sick to the point of hospitalizations, with staph infections, strep, or Norwalk, then you'd know the posters are there for a very clear and legitimate reason. The fact that these illnesses can rip through shows that it would take nothing for something more serious (not that any of those are to be sniffed at) to do the same.

Indeed, that's true. However, you, and I mean you, stated that infectious diseases did not kill people in Canada. Now you are qualifying what you've said.

Might I point out also that the poster you saw was in a MEDICAL CLINIC, ground zero for any kind of outbreak which may hit. For them to educate people on the fact that hand washing can prevent the most major sources of death world wide, and protect people from outbreaks, is not out of line AT ALL.

Doubtful. All the bureaucrats at worksafe bc are interested in is keeping their cushy jobs. By creating a constant stream of confusing and often contradictory rules they can shovel lots of paper around and appear busy whle producing nothing.

Number eight on the list, kills about 1% of Canadians per year. Only one ten diseases are infectious on the list. A little low here.

You're still trying to gloss over the fact that it IS the leading killer world wide, and that this worksafe poster is in a MEDICAL clinic.

This medical clinic has nothing to do with the thousands of people dying every day from infectious diseases in Asia and Africa. WorksafeBC is doing absolutely NOTHING to help all those people dying day after day in far away places. You, like WSBC, have nice sentiments, but instead of wasting money on useless, fearful posters, send me cash instead.

Me washing or not washing my hands does nothing for Asia or Africa where all these people are dying as write.

This poster is really about fears of our current high immigration levels from Asia and Africa. It has no content in it at all. There is no evidence that world wide infectious diseases are affecting British Columbians. Where are the bodies?
