I think that most American people are just like us Canadians.

To a degree, yes. Even to a disturbing degree. Many Canadians would have Canada be a modern day Austria to the Fascist movement.

The big difference is that Canada does not have the military capability of destroying the world. We can barely make our presence known. A little country with a tin pot dictator is only a threat to its citizens and imediate neighbours. The US is a threat to the survival of life on this planet. The Americans, with their knee jerk patriotism, are dangerous to all.

I really agree with a lot you say here, to some degree, but would some of you stop refering to the actions of our gov't/military as action of Americans. I protested the war here in Texas, and I hate Bush, but at the same time, comparing us to Germany in the 1940's is quite extreme, and really not helpful. And bashing our soldiers as mindless drones is not helpful either. The fact is in America, where the welfare system is next to nothing, the military is the only way to a better life for many poor people. You are right to condemn our government and the rich, power players of the USA, but most people are just trying to scrape by, as my friend pointed out, and just don't have the time and energy to research American Foreign Policy or read an Alternative media site. So, please, when criticizing my country and countrymen, lets identify the true criminals and not resort to bashing decent, hard-working people

"A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.

Sorry but this isn't America by any stretch of the imagination. But hey its fun to throw the word fascism around especially if your a commie. :)

No american citizen bashing is intended here. As you said, your governement is the one that stinks. And if this is the case, it makes you (as an american) stink wherever you go. It is not fair but true.

You're right. My government's actions do follow me, but it is quie narrow-minded to brand me by my government's actions, especially since I am against most all of US Foreign Policy. I hope that when I go to Europe in 2006, I will not be accosted for the fact that I am an American(altough I am expecting it in France). Do you think I should just wear a giant red, maple-leaf encrusted hat when I go?

RE: Worker Bees and Soldi

Would you guys still believe this if John Kerry was elected a few months ago? *Just asking, not starting a fight.
