i'm in an immensely dark mood this morning. it's nothing personal.

But this really is one of my pet hates. Women find so many reasons to hate men, and then when women do something men are criticised for the world looks at them and says "aww aren't they cute?" instead of lashing out. which is what i want to do now.

Well, pretty much everyone else on here said what you said Herm... that it's reverse sexism and a bad idea. So, I wouldn't get too upset over it. Sure, some people cracked jokes after stating their opinions, but, we did that with the 'countering feminists' post from youtube as well. We can laugh and poke fun, while still realizing the idea is idiotic.

Reverse sexism happens all the time.

However men WILL go to this place not only from North America but all over the world. Women make a fortune dominating men. They had a woman who dominated men on the radio and that is how she paid for college. The Chinese know how to make a buck and believe me, nothing happens there w/o their government knowing about it.

Funny. I thought in China, men were the rulers, and the women only walked ahead of the men in minefields. I could be wrong....

I was hoping I wouldn't have to tell the girls this, but boys are the social security system for Chinese parents. They are only allowed to have one child, and if it is a girl, the mother immediately smashes its brains out against the nearest rock. The alternative, would be to have no one to care for them in their old age, this is why males outnumber females, in fact, it has become difficult for men to find women to marry. juan, you are close to my age, what has happened to the everyday knowledge concerning China that we got on a regular basis. There are times when I think the younger crowd actually believes China is some kind of misunderstood democracy. I can't imagine that our Korean war vets would make that mistake, all they would remember were the human wave attacks that overran their positions, and men would be fighting with bayonets, entrenching tools, or rifle butts in order to survive. Gouge their eyes out, spit in their faces, kick em between the legs, anything to live for one more breath. Now, China is this enlightened country that Hillary Clinton had to make condemnatory speechs about concerning its treatment of female babies. When did people stop learning about other countries?

I simply cannot believe this... surely no Mother could do that to her baby. Maybe in isolated cases...

Sorry to pee on your parade Libra, but that is the norm. Parents without a son, have no one to care for them in their old age. If you have a daughter, then you are virtually assured of abject poverty in your declining years. If your daughter is married, then the family resources have to support his parents, after all, there is only so much to go around. I thought this was common knowledge. The farther you go from the built up areas, the less females you will find. Who will be able to put in a better day on the land, that alone decides which gender will survive.

Actually, it has more to do with enforced abortions by the chinese government, than mothers deliberately committing infanticide. Infanticide is far less widespread than you have led us to believe. And far less to do with growing old alone.

I think this town is a crazy idea. And this is speaking as a feminist:lol: !

The article says that men can enter, they are just subserviant to the women, and yes...many men do get off on this.

The thing is all over the world the norm is women are submissive to men. Women fight for this to no longer be the case. To turn that into a tourist attraction would be sick and I believe most women would be up-in-arms over it. But men don't have this same experience that women do...to the same degree. I completely disagree with this idea of the attraction...I think it's stupid, but I do believe that men would actually pay to go.

Women in China are not well looked on, as mentioned...they abort the female fetuses and keep the male ones. It's a destruction of a sex, and in time I'm sure they will suffer the effects.

Actually, able has only a vague idea what he is talking about. There aren't too many rocks in hospitals.

First off, whether you can have one or two children depnds on what race you are, and what your profession is, and in some cases it's more of a fine than anything.

It is true that there are people who drown their kids at birth if they are girls, it is a smallish number. The other common occurance is that the girls are abandoned to orphanages, where they are adopted by western couples.

It is an odd society, but one from which I personally have benefitted more than you can imagine.

Thank you TenPenny for putting able's statement into perspective... A much clearer picture of how things are.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating, my knowledge has been built up over a period of 67 years, not by the odd report. The best way to settle this is for one of us to go to China and see the truth for themselves. You are obviously younger, and that makes you the obvious candidate. I have no real interest in the internal workings of China, I'll go to Australia, while you go to China. That sounds fair to me, besides, I'll be more able to come home than you are. The worst mistake people can make, is to reduce China to a statement, even the people in charge can't do that. Do you remember when they accused the birds of eating the grain crops? Millions of Chinese began beating drums and making noise to force the birds to fly, eventually they were too exhausted to fly, and the sight of terrified sparrows running on the ground to escape club weilding people who killed them. The sight of dump trucks filled to overflowing with dead birds convinced me that China is one place that I would never go. I can afford to go wherever I want to, but certain places are off my go to list, and China is right at the top of that list.

lol. I think able has a bit of an exaggerated idea of how often it occurs. Boys are the prefered sex for a baby, because they are expected to look after their parents in their old age. Some girls are aborted, drowned, or abandoned. It's illegal, and is a tradition China is trying to stop.

Regardless, it has nothing to do with whether or not the society is patriarchal or matriarchal. What's more matriarchal than never severing ties with your son, making him take care of you in your old age?
