I'd have to agree with "sine000" . I'm sure if it had been men it would be "text book". Also, it's not that we weren't as important then...we still aren't, I'm sure. Doesn't really bother me , I just believe there will ever be pure "equality", not that I ever wanted it anyways. I don't know who the feminists are representing but it definately wasn't me. Some things I would expect equality but other things they have gone waaaaaaaayyyyyyyy too far.

I would definately rather be pulled out of a burning building by a male firefighter than by a female firefighter who was hired strictly on the basis of gender equality. Just my opinion :)

I agree about the fire fighter. But being equally treated doesn't negate hiring on the basis of qualification, in fact it enhances it.

Don't paint all feminists with the same brush, not all of them are in the radical camp.

I will agree that some of the present issues have gotten out of hand, but I will thank those who came before me and helped open a lot of doors for all of us. I think the Middle East needs our radicals at present, might keep them occupied!

I do agree with you. I shouldn't paint them all.

Correction: The "extreme" feminists.

But, I must say that the qualifications "physically" are modified in some cases when it comes to females.

Have you ever gone golfing???

As for the MiddleEast, I presume you are referring to the "muslim" females who could use some of our feminisms. I'd have to strongly disagree. If you understood the customs and explanations behind their ways maybe you would realize that, in fact, we could probably benefit from them. Our over-sexed society may someday be the end of respect and morality. I don't think anyone can argue that...but someone will try - they always do.

Over-sexed society? What does that mean? How is sex disrespectful or immoral? Without sex, none of us would be here right now.

Yes, you mentioned that. As I said, some issues have gotten out of hand.

Have you ever gone golfing???

Uh, yeah why?

Why would you assume I know nothing of their culture? I don't recall saying anything of sexualizing Muslim women and pushing liberation to the point of wreckless immoral behavior. I was speaking of rights and treatment ie: driving, equal treatment under the law, choices and junk. Things radical feminists lobbied and pushed for 100 yrs ago. Now, I know the level of oppression and restrictions vary from country to country, but I think you get my point now. Sorry if I was unclear.

Back to the subject at hand......

If I remember my European history (and I do :)) the TOTAL number of witches executed (usually hanged, BTW) was somewhat less than 150,000 in Europe AND the Americas over the 300 year period between 1400 and 1700. Between 75 and 85 % of these would have been women.

A "women's holocaust"? Hardly. Idiotic, nasty, tragic, ignorant? Yes.

I have to say that it is also a mistake to compare the oppression of Jews to any other genocidal occurrance in modern history. Jews were not only murdered by the Germans in WW II, they suffered immensely throughout modern history in Europe. The Polish underground generally refused to help in the uprisings by Jews against German oppression. When asked why, one resistence leader answered "After the war, we won't have a Jewish problem."

Jews were plagued in eastern Europe by repeated pogroms, their ghettoes were be assaulted for no reason by gangs intent on robbery, rape and wholesale slaughter. Jews were blamed for everything from infanticide to crop failure, and Jews often paid with their lives. When the Black Death came to Europe (killing at LEAST 35% of the population between 1347 and 1351) jews were held responsible over a large part of Europe, and many places completely expunged their Jewish population with fire and sword.

This repeated itself as the pandemic continued in 10 or 20 year cycles.

No other people I know of has suffered such oppression over so many centuries.......and that should not be belittled.

Very cute, Toro!!!lol!

Hey man, it's not my body!!!Like I've said before "product of environment".Have you noticed any other peticular avatars???

Anywayz, It appears that either I have misunderstood or been unclear about somethin'.

As for the "over-sexed" thang  , if I was gonna have children(which I wouldn't dare to do in this world at this point and judging by my posts' response you'll all be happy  ), they would be having sex by the time they are 5 yrs old 8O . If you don't see a problem with that...

Not much has changed. In the Arab world the women are teated badly and if the Born Again Christian crowd had their way the women of this country would once again be ruled with the iron fist of the Lord.
The problem is not with politics, or religion really, it has everything to do with a great number of insecure men who feel powerless if women have an equal say in anything. I have always told my daughters and grand daughters to stand up for themselves, don't let men or circumstance or tradition define you to a secondary role in anything.
Imagine today anyone saying things like Behind every great man is a wonderful woman.....what a load of crap.
I believe we must achieve, neither mens nor womens right we must still fight on to secure human rights in this country that are equal.
What the hell I have seven kids and eighteen grand children what do I know.

Women will never be equal until they take their proper place in the frontlines of our armed forces. Canada has lost a female soldier in Afghanistan this year. Unsettling but proof there is movement in the right direction. You can't expect to be equal if the sacrifice expected is not.
