Word got out, damn.
.

You remember the guys who crossed over in Manitoba in February or something,
lost a couple of fingers ?
I predicted the if he got to stay, word would spread and thousands will flood in.

He got asylum, and now they all know it can be done, and HOW to do it.

What are your numbers, with source, please.

We don't keep track. Hospitals don't generally ask, and even if they do, they don't forward it to anyone.

What, you don't think a one-handed Somalian is going to soon be starting up his own high tech business and employing hundreds of ignorant Canadians?!

How did you 'earn' your citizenship? I'll be honest. I didn't earn it. I inherited it from my mother.

I bet that is the case for the majority in these forums.

The problem is that in 20 years or so this kid will come across the ocean and according to people like you, will be 100% Canadian, and will certainly have all the same rights as those born and raised here. Of course, he might not speak a word of English, and know and care nothing about this country, its culture, values and traditions, but he'll still be able to vote, and still be able to claim welfare and other subsidies. He'll also be able to get health care for free, and heavily subsidized education his parents never paid a dime for.

And if he doesn't like the way we run our country he'll be able to vote to change it so it's more like his country - er, the country he grew up. Of course, it's just one vote. Except that in Vancouver now, people born abroad will soon outnumber those born in Canada. As they will in Toronto. Their numbers continue to grow, giving them more and more influence, both legally and culturally, and altering both our laws and our culture.

I suspect none of that matters to you. Most of those on the Left take pride in having no respect for Canada's history, traditions, values or customs, and welcome however many foreigners flood in, without regard to costs.

Please allow me to apply your logic to another context to help me to better understand it. I'll apply it to a kid born in Ontario to a unilingual French-speaking Quebec or Nunavut couple.

"The problem is that in 20 years or so this kid will come across the border and according to people like you, will be 100% Ontarian, and will certainly have all the same rights as those born and raised here. Of course, he might not speak a word of English, and know and care nothing about this province, its culture, values and traditions, but he'll still be able to vote, and still be able to claim welfare and other subsidies. He'll also be able to get health care for free, and heavily subsidized education his parents never paid a dime for in Ontario.

Have I got it right?

Well, except for the part that he and his parents are Canadian born and raised and his parents have been paying taxes here all their lives. Are you saying there should be no difference between Canadians and foreigners?

Why do you hate this country so much and have so little respect for it?

Hmmm... Then I'll try to understand it another way if I may:

"Well, except for the part that he and his parents are earth-born and raised and his parents have been paying taxes on this earth all their lives."

Now to answer your question. Though I do not profess the Christian Faith, I have read the Bible which has much influenced English literature and culture. Consider this from Matthew 5:

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

You'll notice it does not say "ye are the light of Canada," but "the light of the world."

Speaking of culture, read the beatitudes, the Lord's prayer, and the story of the good Samaritan, and notice how none of them make any distinction between Jews and gentiles (or should I say Canadians and foreigners?).

Now as for my 'hate' for Canada, let's consider this. Whether I'm in Canada or abroad, I don't litter the streets, I show kindness towards people, and I make friends. Are you saying that by treating all people the same regardless of nationality, race, creed, sex, or any other such distinction rather than make a distinction by reserving my kindness for Canadians only proves my hate for Canada? If so, then according to that definition, yes, I hate Canada because I refuse to mistreat a person just because of the nationality stamped on his passport.

I just got a reddie. At first I thought it came from Walter, but no, it came form Durry. Hi Durry!

And I figure you just show up to troll and accuse everyone of everything, but
your specialty seems to call everyone racist.

Are you trying to compensate for something ? Really small dick perhaps ?
Think being a big dick on the internet helps that out ?
Wait. . . you brought race into the discussion.

Oh, I see. This is a clumsy attempt to divert attention from that.

OK, nice try. You might catch up eventually.

When I was in the Air Force, we had a guy in my unit who was British, born and raised. He spent a couple of weeks every summer in the U.S., and came to the U.S. for about two months before he joined the Air Force. Spoke with a regular British accent, went to British schools all his life. Could name every king and queen, and only half a dozen American presidents. But he was a citizen, because his father was.

I thought he was a pretty decent American, having joined up and all.

There will be a lot more than one that finds out the hard way what cold weather is all about. Nothing to cheer about that's for sure.

No, you did, by mentioning the Turks. Nice try though. I was talking about changing jus soli for something else.
You see, you are the real racist running around here, because you try to twist every discussion
into something about race.

Having said that, I don't read many stories about Americans or Europeans coming and dropping anchor
babies in Canada. It always seems to be from .. somewhere else.
