Wild sea otter gets friendly with man in B.C.

This sea otter gets up close and personal with a man in British Columbia, Canada.
The otter seems very tame and playful with the man as it swims through his legs, but is his presence this close to a wild animal a good idea?
The Vancouver Aquarium seems to think not, stating that you should respect wild animals and to keep your distance.
The Vancouver Aquarium has posted the video of the encounter on their Facebook page.
The reactions from the public have been mixed.

He's in Cadboro Bay area of Victoria. Chances are he's been around people a lot and possibly fed.

Youtube is full of otter's playing with dogs. Maybe his mistaken the man for a dog...women do it in the reverse all the time...

I've walked around Monterey Bay. There are vast stretches of beach that are totally deserted. I've come upon sea otters on several occasions when they have been on the beach. Each time they beat a hasty retreat into the water as I approached. Maybe it's my breath. :)

One more small point: That is not a sea otter. It is a river otter.......Sea otters are four times that size.

You otter know............;-)........Being from out there ...............not punny, eh:lol:

They're nothing to mess with, being a carnivore and all. Plus they swim fast enough to CATCH fish....(river otter).
Don't Sea Otters dive for shellfish, and whack em with stones while holding them on their chests ?

I otter leave now.....

Another remarkable thing about river otters is that they ingest a lot of broken shellfish that is passed through their entire digestive system. Just the idea of all them sharp, broken sea shells would stop me up quickly.

I thought it was small. Also sea otters are still kind of rare that far south.don't usually travel single either.

Same bunch of experts didn't think we should pet Luna either.
