Why is the CBC website so censored

I also post on CBC.ca under my real name and I find it an extremely censored site. They very seldom open up hot news stories to commenting. Its very frustrating. For instance they are are renovating their website and do not allow any comments on any of the changes. I am old enough to remember the early 1990s and the free-for-all the internet used to be. I know those days could not last forever but they have taken it to such an extreme now. I wonder if there wouldn't be some way to redirect commenting from the CBC website onto independent sites like this so that the people that wanted to sound off on these stories could do so without sullying the CBC with their malodorous opinions.

It could very well be,however it is TV,not all of us are aquainted with the medium.

Oh yes I remember this was the broardcast nut work that hosted Tommy Hunter, in an hour long format! I'm a one channel baby,Tommy made me turn to acid and mushrooms.

Good voice though.

Maybe I should have listened, what's he doing now? Any new tunes? I am a travelin man

Their political coverage is often biased. However if you are a pro big brother lefty you probably tend to agree with them.

At least their political coverage exists. Literally nowhere else to get the stories they cover. Their election coverage is almost comically thorough.

Even the UN has a website that allow visitors to chat about topics they post. It would be worth posting your comments there just so you could take a screenshot and sent it to CBC.

Saves having to visit FOX for the alternate version. The Fifth estate was their last honest programing. That and the Mercer Report and Air Farce. Not a strike out but not out of the park either.

I was just discussing the same thing on the Huff Post, Hoid. Several of us have had our posts taken down from the site. So much for everyone being allowed their opinion. I also post on CBC but as you stated, it is a rare story that allows you to do so and even then you better be towing the PC line.

My favorite was the old CNN site. The boards were highly moderated but they were super busy.

In the old days The Sun had excellent online forums but the were just too wild. And of course the Frank Magazine forum was outstanding.

Too wild usually means trolls took over so the people wanting to cover the topic got bored and left. Just like it was intended. The solution would be to give the OP the choice of banning a certain poster from posting on his threads.
Venues such as this have a purpose if it wasn't so heavily policed by the self appointed collective. All the real leaders left a year ago or so and as usual the only thing they leave are their useless tools. If the remaining people that can think want to show they are better than what is being replaced then the method of exile for all 'strangers' should be one of 'sit over there and listen' type of thing but in a way that doesn't shut down their emotions as the 'restart' is never a pleasant thing to be around.

Before the last website change I used to comment on there as well but as you rightly point out, these days they seem to cut off or maybe even not open the commenting section.

How can the commenting section 'be closed' an hour after a story broke?

Since we the people pay for the CBC it should allow us to comment on the subject(s) of the day.....

The simple answer is because they can be held accountable for publishing comments that are deemed to be offensive, so they go overboard in not allowing a lot.

Blame it on the lawyers. It started when some people posted comments that first nations said were ignorant, they stopped allowing any comments on any stories with first nations content. Then it escalated from there.

Normally you can if it an approved comment. IE tow the party line.
