Al Capone, US ganster

LOVE that one. :)

as far as I am concerned.........the less "they " know the better.

Perhaps that is the problem "they" don't know enough, being those with the hate on for the USA, and those in the USA who are mislead by hokie government.

Yeah I kinda like that quote too.

second: I kinda think that the word "hate" is tossed around too liberally. Some kid in the US asked this question after 9-11 and it just took off.

If one examines the whole "hate" thing.......it is far from 'hate'......but it is a lot of things that are not so inflamatory.

Usually, it is more along anger. And then the anger can be pinpointed into the objects of the anger. Ithink it is fairly safe to say......that the USG does anger a lot of nations/ people on this planet.

"hate" is just too inflamatory and renders a blind prejudice (IMHO..) and the last thing many people are is "prejudiced" against the US. Dissed off??? you bet.

No.1........It is rather mindboggling how much "interference" the US has done in its relatively short life span.

Tis easier to say you hate something or some one than it is to try and understand them. Pity really isn't it.

No where on this forum I have seen someone use the word hate. I don't think we hate the people of the US but rather we despise their government actions with other nations. As Canadians, we despise a lot of the USG involvement in different countries because we come from those countries. We hate their interference in our nations affair. But definitely we don't hate the people.

Maybe the arrogant ones! And how many arrogant Americans are there??? Good question that needs a good answer.

Per Capita... just as many arrogant others in other countries I am sure, Americans are just noisier.

That is the point I think, we dislike, dispise even hate actions of the USG not the people.

I don't see the level of arrogance Americans display in other people. Yes they are noisier about their arrogance but also they are more arrogant with their noise.

I had no idea arrogance is limited within US borders. You learn something everyday.

ITN: Do not take it personally. Arrogance in the US is noisier than elsewhere. But you seem to be one of the good ones.

Oh I don't want to offend anyone, I think we see americans as loudly arrogant because there are so many of them and they seem to be overwhelming. (note I say seem and am forming a simple opinion) However I have had the opportunity to work with folks from India, and their arrogance is pretty much at the same level. I have sat in a room with an american candidate and a Qatarie interviewer and the arrogance was pretty much matched. I have talked over the phone to great lengths with a Phillipino engineer about a Kuwait job and his arrogance spoke volumes. What I believe, is arrogance is all around, and can be very noisy. And can be world wide.

nice touch.

this is of course a generalization. But that is the pattern of things.......The noisiest are the ones that provide the "reputation"

There are good and bad, noisy and arrogant, smart and stupid all over the world.

Having said that, many in the US have an arrogant "superpower" like mentality, I suppose it goes with the territory.

We need you arrogant warmongering Americans...again. That pretty much sums up the general attitude of the world towards us.

Yes I have and I live next to a couple of Indians. They are arrogant but in a different way. I am unable to explain the arrogance America`ans have but it is different.

RE: Why Do They Hate Us S

The loudness doesn't bother me. I used to stay in a hotel in Thunder Bay and there was always this guy from Pittsburgh there. I'd walk into the bar and he'd yell, "Hey, Wiinnniiipeeeg," then the salesman from Toronto who was always there would walk in and he'd yell, "Hey, Toooorrrrrontooooo." This is a tiny little bar. We'd shoot pool and drink beer until our expense account ran out.

The point is that he was a loud American. He wasn't arrogant though. He accepted that we were different and fully acknowledged that his country was often wrong in their actions. You don't hear a lot of voices like his coming out of the US anymore. That's too bad...if there were voices like his they could wear their own flags when they travelled.

seems that the fact they have to resort to travelling under another nations flag or logo.......diminishes any arrogance they might have had. Does not diminish their loud and aggressive conduct. Amazingly, even when Americans hide behind a CA flag.......people in Europe and elsewhere can still spot them. A CA flag does not change the nature of the "American". Friends in Europe tell me exactly what happens. For the most part , many are simply "courteous" to Americans and stay away from them as much as possible. Others pity them. Some friends in Scotland say , that "Americans" remind them of their toddler children. Loud, attention seeking with the "look at me" syndrome.

an interesting aray of perceptions.

this is quite sad really.
