Why do people idolize drug dealers?

I never understood why people idolize drug dealers or try so hard to be cool with them.

Drug dealers are scum who prey on the weak. Like why would you want to be friends with someone or idolize someone who ruins their community by flooding it with cocaine, fentynal, etc?

Why do these predators illicit so much respect?

Why do people think its so cool to take advantage of weaker minded people?

I know people who have ruined their lives because of drugs and they either want to have a circle of friends anchored with drug dealers or they want to be a drug dealer themselves? Proving that some of my friends haven't learned anything.

People need to smarten up and find new role models instead of thinking they're Pablo Escobar or Tony Montana.

There are other ways to earn power and respect.

Same reason people curried favor with the Mob, or J.P. Morgan, or Donald Trump. Money and power have allure, don't really matter how you get it.

One of the reasons why impressionable young people might be drawn to the drug culture is that some of them listen to music that glorifies the drug culture and its inhabitants.

I was jest keeding, Johnnny! ;)

I think we can all get behind the fact that drug dealers are scum. I've made a point my whole life of never associating with these types of individuals.

Do you make an exception for drug dealers who are listed on the New York Stock Exchange?

I am familiar with some drug dealers. Their supposed mysterious idolization stems from thier well known mystical magical power to get thier adoring subjects blissfully altered or displaced or even napping.

Drug dealers are business people, capitalists in the truest sence. Why does the poster hate democracy?

I think that's part of as well, but I think back to my youth and how I felt about authority. Criminals live outside that and today we glorify them through entertainment, not only rap music, but breaking bad, the sopranos, and even that dumb car movie franchise: The Fast and Furious.

Bull. People as old as you, and older, associate with known criminals every day.

Don't call me Bull.

You mean other criminals?
I don't disagree with you, but I don't think its the same as idolizing someone. If your drawn to someone who deals drugs [pot excluded] and you're an adult, you have serious character flaws yourself.

Heck, President Drunkuncle just sat down with one of the biggest drug dealers in the world. Xi Jianping.

You make my point.

Are you talking about drug dealers or the effect your posts have on us?

I think it was our British pal Blackie who said Robin Hood was a thief and bloodletter. Or something to that effect.

As we all know Jesse James and his brother were both murderers and terrorists as were Bonnie & Clyde.

Here's Al Capone as Santa:

Christopher Columbus = imperialistic murderer and slave driver but the church considered him for sainthood.

What do they all have in common? They killed without compunction and were celebrated as heroes. Nothing new under the sun. It's just human nature.

The Kennedys? You do know how old Joe made his money, right?

No worse than did the Bush clan.

I'm not tolerant with drug dealers either, but I guess people who adore them because they think drug could make them feel much better. People at all age want to escape from the normal daily life. Teenagers want to be a part of cool kids at school. Adults want to stop thinking about the present for awhile. They all have excuses to use drug and come with drug dealers, give that they do not make any sense.
