Obviously you don't mind it at all. You congratulate the guy and buy him a beer for his good work.

It would be up to the woman as to whether or not she wore it. I have read many instances where women have stated that they wear it by choice.

Really, Afghanistan, so I guess all the deaths over there since 9/11 have been for naught since you are saying the Taliban is still in charge.

If you were actually able to think, but obviously that is not one of your strong points. Unlike you and others on here, I don't find it to be my place to tell others how to dress.

And many instances where they had no choice. Point is not valid.
For driving- License and operating a vehicle- No Burka.
Courts- No
Govt offices- No Burka.
Voting- No
And again it is a cultural norm, not a Religious based requirement.

Now consider how many companies would hire a women in a full fledged Burka as a person who meets the public as they walk in the door. Not many.

If they wish to wear the Burka shopping and such I do not care.

Off topic - I believe there should be some restrictions on abortions. Some.

I know you do, just pointing out the irony of no restrictions on something that kills, all the while advocating restrictions on how one is allowed to dress.

And you condemn him and don't have a bad word to say about the men who beat women with steel bars, whom you equally obviously support.

I'm OK with that. Hope you are.

right, in my dreams.

In 76 my girlfriend had an abortion, yes I paid for it. Yes it was her choice, not mine.
My daughter or son would be turning 37 later this year.
Still haunts me. I know that it devastates many women as well.

I would have been fine with t it for tat. Murder is well beyond justice. That being said, it doesn't surprise me at all, neither the fact that an american marine did this, or with the reception he received at home.

And it doesn't surprise me that Canadians approve of beating women with steel bars for accidentally showing an ankle.

Did I say that? No I didn't. I said ti t for tat. The guys is beating on a woman, then beat on him. No reason to ever kill another human being. Period. Ever.

What I see though, whether they identify as democrat or republican, war is a-ok and people getting killed is fine, for what ever reason strikes them at the time.

Can we have a rational discussion please. Not directed at anyone.

How can one have a rationale discussion with people that want to restrict what others can wear?

"Those fu ckin sand nig gers over there in the midjel east tellin women what they can and can't wear.. it's fu ckin horrible"

now, same inbred moron

"Those fu ckin sand ni ggers comin over here to my country wearin their burkas and shyte. They should all be shot and shipped back. We shouldn't allow these women to wear that kinda shyte.... oh ya, and don't you go wearin none of that slu tty crap neither".

I really don't see the difference between the idiots in the ME and their dress codes, and the idiots over here with their dress codes.

You don't like what they wear? Don't fu ckin look at them and don't wear what they wear.

Using that logic, Gerryh, if you don't like what we are posting you should just keep quiet about it!

Oh? I'm not allowed to use the same "logic" that the "pro choicers" use?

"If you don't believe in abortions, then don't have one."

The Koran tells men that they are superior to woman, so from boyhood on Muslim men are not expected to have any self control. So the women have to wear a bag over their heads and bodies after all the men might see a flash of skin.

Why do Islamic Woman wear the Burka as its not mentioned in the Quran?

Its not a religious thing as its not specifically mentioned in the Quran
The only reason I can imagine it to be worn is to create trouble and miss-trust and separate yourself from the rest of society, Or that you have a...We are better than everyone else attitude you don't deserve to see our face and eyes, If I see someone wearing it the first thing that comes to my mind is be very suspicious of that person and why are they hiding and what do they have to hide?
I don't understand it because your not doing the nice decent people in your culture any favours by wearing it as you are all being tarred by the same brush because of it.
Its not a racist thing as I would be very suspicious of anyone who covers their eyes and face in public.
I do think it should be banned and hopefully then our societies can learn to live peacefully together without being so artificially segrigated.

In general Muslim women do not wear burqas as that is more of a cultural, not religious sanction. Burqas are found in Afghanistan and Iran while niqabs are used among certain Arabic tribes. Mandated use of these does not appear in the Koran. On the contrary, covering the face is forbidden as per Sura 33, Line 59:

O Prophet! Speak to thy wives and to they daughters, and to the wives of the Faithful, that they let their veils fall low. Thus they will be more easily be known, and they will not be affronted. God is indulgent, Merciful!

This clearly shows that all women were to keep their faces from being hidden so that everyone can know who is a Muslima - this because at that time pagan Aryans and some Arab tribes forced women to hide their faces. By revealing one's face this is how Muslims knew that a woman was a Muslima. Therefore, contrary to what some Muslims believe a woman must NOT hide her face.
