The pic below shows quite clearly that the expansion at the Atlantic and Pacific rifts are expanding at a certain rate and the 'subduction is at a slower rate (to say the least) or the oceans would be 'smaller' in that Africa and South America would still be close together. That would seem to fit with some sort of expansion theory would it not?
6,000 km wide and 180M years using Africa and the US just above Miami end is as 33.333km/1 million years or 0.00003333333km per year. That is how far (6,000km) subduction is behind expansion and yet the earth is not expanding according to you.
