The following applies in the U.S. ...

"ONE NATION UNDER GOD INDIVISIBLE"

If Canada had adopted the same approach as the US, maybe we wouldn't have the current crisis with never-ending referendums in Quebec.

yeah, but... witch god ?

The God that's referred to in the national anthem. Or did you guys change it again?

how can you unite a nation under only one god, when your nation is composed of many religion and atheists ? unless you convert everyone to the same religion, one nation under god have no sense at all...

The phrase is really just a relic from the past, Cathou. It is meaningless in the context of the freedom of religion guaranteed in the constitution.

Those who try to use it to force their peculiar superstitions on others do not understand that freedom of religion also includes the right to have the freedom from having somebody else's religious beliefs forced on you.

That's cute. Is Canada the only country removing religion from all forms of society, be it public schools, monuments or the national anthem? Mr. Pot, meet Mr. Kettle.

In fact, God is present in our canadian anthem (the original one in french)

Sous l’oeil de dieu,
Under God’s eye

Près du fleuve géant
Near the geant river

Le canadien grandi en espérant
The canadian grow hoping

Il est né d’une race fière,
Is born from a proud race

Béni soit son berceau,
Bless was his craddle

Le ciel a marquer sa carrière
The sky have mark his carreer

Dans ce monde nouveau
In that new world
