Okay, I'll bite. I believe the largest corporation on the planet at the moment is Exxon/Mobil. I could be wrong about that, as I'm going from memory, and not doing any research on the fly.

Given that Exxon/Mobil is an American corporation, I would answer your question by saying that the largest corporations in the world are American based. However, I fail to see the relevance. Many other large multi-nationals are not American based. There are huge corporations that are based in Japan, Britain, Germany, etcetera, etcetera.

It really doesn't matter where the large corporations are based. If the large corporations are setting up shop in countries like China and India, they are driving China and India's economy through construction, which requires significant investment and labour, and through manpower required to operate the Chinese and Indian factories. These are factories that are not being built in America. These are factories that are not being staffed by Americans.

So the question becomes thus: Why are these corporations setting up shop in countries like China and India?

The answer is simple: It's cheaper. If the big American corporations can build a new factory in China, hire Chinese workers to produce their goods, and ship their foreign made products back to the USA at a profit -- a profit significantly greater than that of goods produced in the USA, they're not going to pull out of China.

Next question: Who controls government?

Answer: Corporations!

It's impossible to cripple China's economy at this stage in the game. China is becoming a country with a huge untapped consumer market. WalMart knows it... You should to!

The USA cannot unilaterally cripple China's economy. America is a tractor/trailer... China is a freight train. If they go head to head, the USA will lose.

But please explain your theory to me. I'm dying for a good laugh.

I thank you for making my point. What if the large corporations decided not to set up shop in China and India? Why did they never set up shop before? Why were China and India stagnant before the arrival of American corporations? I would ask that you answer this question.

ICT Targets China's Most Favoured Nation Trading Status

What is MFN?
------------
Most-Favored-Nation (MFN) is reciprocal trading status which provides a country with the lowest available tariffs on its exports to the U.S. Under U.S. law, countries with non-market economies are prohibited from receiving MFN privileges. However, the President has the power to waive these restrictions on a yearly basis.

Since 1980, each U.S. President has waived the above restrictions and renewed China's MFN status. Since 1989, President Bush was pressured by Congress to condition MFN because of China's blatant disregard for human rights. This effort has been spearheaded by Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senator George Mitchell (D-ME). Because of President Bush's policy of "constructive engagement" with China, he consistently vetoed legislation conditioning MFN. As a result, China continues to receive this preferential trade tariff today. MFN became a symbol of the Bush Administration's reluctance to pressure China on human rights. Since the first attempt in 1989 to place conditions on MFN, more and more interest groups, from labor to human rights, have attempted to make their issue a condition on the bill.

Because China relies heavily on the U.S. market, it is widely believed that they would try to meet any conditions placed on MFN. Otherwise, China would lose this extremely lucrative market. China's desire to become a respected member of the international community and its need for foreign currency to continue its modernization program also render it particularly susceptible to foreign, and in particular U.S., pressure to alter its policies.

How old is that little diatribe that you posted SaintLucifer? I get the distinct impression that they're talking about the former President Bush! Things have changed considerably since Herbert Walker was in the White House.

You make me laugh. Clinton did an eight year term since that time, and G.W. Bush is half way through his second four year term. No one even talks about China's human rights violations anymore. I mean, come on.

How about something a little more recent? At least something from the last decade!

Too bad. Not that many great Statesmen around these days. Last good ones prior to GW was Ronnie Reagan and Winston Churchill.

Francesco Franco, Augusto Pinochet and Benito Mussolini.

Trolling, trolling, out on the Ocean Way.

Francesco Franco is dead and expected to remain dead for the forseeable future.

Thank God.

Likewise Benito, who was so loved by his people that after he was executed by partisans, they couldn't stop the local ladies from squating over his body to piss in his face.

Pinochet deserves nothing less.

Who is the real threat to America? I am. Here in Canada I seek to create a one-party fascist state. I seek our withdrawal from both the UN and NATO. I see to return all Canadian forces to Canadian soil. I seek to end any and all signs of democracy. Oops. Is that an American invasion force I see at our border?

Quickly, when was China granted Most Favoured Nation status? Look at the date this happened then you understand the point of my post. I did not expect you to understand with such limited socialist intellect but then again there is always hope. No one talks about China's human rights violations? What have you been smoking? Is it the good stuff? People most certainly do. Did you know that China now uses their gaining foreign reserves to hold over the heads of those who would question their human rights atrocities? China has learned rather quickly. Money talks, bullshit walks. Wave the money in front of enough people and the quickly shut the fuck up about China's atrocities.

You believe China to be so wonderful then I suggest a trip to Pearson International. Surely there are daily Air Canada flights to China? I would suggest you purchase a one-way ticket. Thank you. Do my country a favour you commie whelp.

Trolling? Is that what you call it? I am a fascist. Franco, Mussolini and Pinochet were all fascists.

Franco made Spain a better country than it had been for centuries. He finally united the entire country for the first time in almost its entire history.

Mussolini was loved by his people. It was not until Italy started to get their asses kicked that he was betrayed by his own people. His own government turned their backs on him. The Italians were cowardly shits who saw the Allies coming and knew the only way out was to kill Mussolini. He was killed by leftists. Never forget this. Many of his own people still loved him. The Germans were so disgusted by Italian cowardice they moved their own military into Italy. Remember Patton and Sardinia? Over 350,000 Italian soldiers he had to face along with 95,000 Germans. What does he do? He completely ignores the Italians and heads up to face the Germans. He knew the Italians were cowards. He was right. They surrendered en masse. The 95,000 Germans put up a hell of a fight. It took the might of over 3 major nations to take Italy and it was not Italians who defended Italy. It was Germans. It is not Mussolini's fault his nation was full of cowards. Mussolini gave the Italians great pride when first he came into power. The country was run efficiently for the first time in its entire history. He was betrayed left and right by his enemies and his friends.

Augusto Pinochet is the hero fascist who kept the fucking communists out of Chile. As a result Chile is one of the wealthiest non-oil states in South America. It has an economy that is chugging along. The leftists have been bitchslapped into submission. If not for Pinochet half of South America would be communist today. He was one of the few people with the balls to take on heavily-armed commuist rebels.

Is that a weak attempt at sarcasm? I should be vilified for my nationalism? It is a crime to love one's country?

RE: Who is the real threa

Franco made Spain a better country than it had been for centuries. He finally united the entire country for the first time in almost its entire history.

What he means by better country, is that is was in the hands of fascists. NOT that it was actually a better country or the people were better off...

Nobody except another fascist could agree with him here.

Given that, we all know what it means when he says the people loved their fascist rulers...

But hey! I'd "love" someone too if they held a bludgeon over my head and threatened to kill me if I wasn't "loving" to them.

It's funny that you are judging Pinocet's accomplishments based on current economic success. Considering that logic you should be wild about democracy. the richest countries are the most free.[/quote]
