I gotta give it to her. She looks great.
Interesting perspective.
California fitness loving mom of 3, Maria Kang, posted a picture on her website Maria Kang | No Excuse Mom and Social Entrepreneur which has sparked up quite the controversy! Maria, who owns a residential care home for the elderly as well as founded the non-profit organization, Fitness without Borders, is showing off her hot bod with her kiddies on front of her. "What's your excuse?" is the tagline.
At first I was confused as to why this woman was straddling her young children, which made me click her link in the first place after it went absolutely APE **** VIRAL. The photo has reached over 16 million views on Facebook and 17k comments, some deeming the photo inspiring, while others are downright offended. The people responding negatively have gone so far as calling her a "fat shaming bully."
" Looks to me like thats unhealthy, always in the gym."
"She's clearly a bad mom."
"Poor example for her kids, self centered."
"It's different because she's Asian."
"Right... I'm sure she has a nanny doing all the work while she works out all day."
“You are part of the body shaming problem that is going on in North America and other parts of the world,”
What's your excuse? Apparently too many to list.
The mere fact that people are taking this as a personal attack on them shows all. The haters that are "appalled" by this photo have some issues within themselves, not with her. If you are a "real woman, with curves and proud and don't need to look like this." Then cool! Don't! If you were truly content with yourself though then I don't think you'd be trolling her photos and website pointing fingers every which way of what she's accomplished is so "wrong."
She never said, " YOU MUST LOOK LIKE ME!" She simply said, "Whats Your Excuse?" meaning motherhood doesn't have to rid you from taking care and feeling good about yourself, it's possible to achieve what you think you cannot! We all have the same 24 hours. The comments that claim Maria lives at the gym are false, she's not shucking an entire field of corn for 40 hours, she's popping some cardio and weights for an hour at most each day. Other comments berating her on how she raises her children and lives her life are just unnecessary as well. Why is that a crime and why is there judging about the way she does things?
People that are offended should probably never watch TV/ read a magazine/ see a bus stop because I see advertising like that every day. And I love it. This type of advertising is the core of Gatorade, Adidias, Nike, etc. campaigns, are those wildly offensive as well? Don't watch this (epic) Nike ad, "My Better is Better Than Your Better" then. You'll probably croak.
If you're truly "hurt" with this image, you need to find a pair of big kid pants, quick. It's people like these that are the reason coaches are getting calls and complaints from parents because their kid is on the B team/alternate/on the bench and the parent thinks they deserve to play/perform because that's what's "fair." Also the reason every kid is getting a big *** trophy when they should be getting a participation ribbon. NEWSFLASH the worlds not fair, I thought we established this by now, but if we work hard, we will get results. Simple. This woman worked hard for her body, she can flaunt it.
I have to say that my wife transformed herself in a year, through diet and exercise and she looks positively stunning. I am now the pudgy one and in the interest of health, not vanity, I know it's time for a serious lifestyle change.

Lucky for me she's clinically blind.
