gas in canada is laughably cheap.. It recently went up to £1 a litre in the UK. here it's rarely half of that.

You may have noticed the difference in distance between Canadian pubs as opposed to UK.:wave:

We're at 2.50 in Richmond. Its gone up 45 cents since my sis was here 3 weeks ago. I filled my tank last week at 2.30 and on my fixed income after Ostara I'll be staying home, that includes going to the grocers, docs, whatever.

That's per U.S. gallon I presume, about 66 U.S. cents per liter. I pay 99.9 Canadian cents per liter for regular gas, about 87 U.S. cents. Herman's paying $2.27 Canadian per liter in Britain, about $1.94 in U.S. funds, according to this handy little site.

Whatever the price in each area, the gov'ts haven't increased taxes. So that means the price hikes are strictly due to the oil companies.

Oil Prices Settle Near $60 a Barrel on Short-Term Trades; Gasoline Futures Also Fall

NEW YORK (AP) - Oil prices followed gasoline futures lower and settled near $60 a barrel Friday as traders positioned themselves before the weekend.
Light, sweet crude for April delivery dropped $1.59 to settle at $60.05 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for April delivery fell $1.20 to settle at $61.13 a barrel on London's ICE Futures Exchange.
Gasoline futures slipped more than 2 cents to settle at $1.9021 a gallon.

Prices might drop again because oil is back down, but I really doubt it.

The thing to do is decrease demand. I biked to the store 5 miles away this morning. Took about a half hour there and a bit less back. The price of gas there this morning is $106.9
