Learning to listen...

Is there one person or one event which has been paramount in guiding you to your beliefs now?
I can't say there's one sole person that guided my belief, though certainly my mother and step-father shaped them the most. Getting married has certainly changed my outlook, now having someone to confide in and share my thoughts and bounce ideas off of. And... getting a tune-in from time to time. Unfortunately most of the time, deserved... I hate it when she's right.

Have your beliefs always been the same or have they been subject to change?
I think the person I might have been changed dramatically when I moved overseas to the middle-east as a child. Seeing and living in a very different world from what we are used to in our sheltered life here in safe Canada and USA (generally anyway...) gave me a different outlook on my existance. Things changed tenfold once more when my parents were divorced. This made me strongly independant, and more introspective.

If they have changed, was it because you have made those changes on your own or have been influenced to make the changes.
A good deal of changes occured during my childhood, so largely due to family events. Now having started my own company, I feel as though I'm starting off brand new again, in a new direction.

Do you expect to remain constant in your beliefs now or would accept changes along the way?
As I age, I learn to listen more, and blab less. I try to follow world events and try to understand the world I live in a little more. Each day and experience shapes who I am, and continue to evolve to be.

Deep thoughts...

... now where did I leave my beer?

I was really close to my Grandpa (dad's dad) he would always protect me, well after he died all of my beliefs changed. When the one person who I really trusted and turned to for everything after he hurt me things really changed.

...Have your beliefs always been the same or have they been subject to change?
Read above, my beliefs used to all be happy and positive well after both of those events and mainly the last one all of my beliefs have been really negative and not the same.

...If they have changed, was it because you have made those changes on your own or have been influenced to make the changes.
Both it was influenced by those events and because I decided to change what I believed in.

Depening on what happens i'll probably except little changes along the way.

Probably not just one but I had a history teacher once who I respected a lot and he was/is a major influence.

They change.

Probably both.

I guess some will change but not most. There are some specific issues I don't have an opinion on and I suppose eventually I will develop an opinion on them.

We have a great cross-section here of ages, political ideology, philosophical beliefs, backgrounds, interests, and stages of life....

...Is there one person or one event which has been paramount in guiding you to your beliefs now?

NO

...Have your beliefs always been the same or have they been subject to change?

Yes

...If they have changed, was it because you have made those changes on your own or have been influenced to make the changes.

A little of both.

...Do you expect to remain constant in your beliefs now or would accept changes along the way?

Yes I would accept changes along the way.

One major event changed everything for me and while it was an unhappy event, it led me to some
surprising things which I would never have accomplished otherwise.

Same thing happened to me, although it wasn't exactly an unhappy event........

I find myself quoting my father a lot on rules for living right.
...Have your beliefs always been the same or have they been subject to change?
They have "evolved' but no major changes.
...If they have changed, was it because you have made those changes on your own or have been influenced to make the changes.
I truly think drugs do influence your thought processes. Acid and pot for me. Acid trips always had great revelations and insights. I quit doing acid when the revelations and insights stopped. Still a pot smoking hippie though.

Iam open to change but would prefer a slow evolution.
