LOL indeed... For too many Canadians, 'not being American' seems the prima materia of Canadian identity, which is pretty sad...

I don't know if this should make me laugh or cry...

I try to stick to just being a proud Canadian. I don't think I'd want to be American only because I love Canada too much.

My favourite thing about the US is the fact I am as free there as I am at home. The last 7 years has made me a little nervous that this freedom is being erroded in an insidious way that even Americans think is nothing more than patriotic actions by their government. This is one of those slippery slope things that may start with noble intentions but end up with a very different result.

Otherwise I'm looking forward to my next trip south to beat the winter blahs and still be in a safe country. I've been to Florida and back a bunch of times and found I can drink the tap water in every state on I 75 and even Buffalo too. LOL
