I never use the word "God" to indicate something which is not God. What thought has invented is not God. If it is invented by thought, it is still within the field of time, within the field of the material..What is God ?
God is an invention though China, a human construct to define that which is undefinable due to lack of knowledge, or willfully ignoring the facts.
It is a product of ignorance, and a personification of the naturally occuring.
Time too is a human construct, or rather the system for marking the passage of time. Without the ability to tell time, would time exist?
Well of course it would!!
Just as the natural world would still function without labelling it as God, or G_d, or Allah, or whomever...

Time explains and exists as "time" even if we don't recognize that.
We dealt with that reality and created certain length of time to measure and know about the flow of time. Even if we don't recognize time, people are getting older and dying. It is matter of "how long."
Time exist even if don't explain it.
It exists because world requires it.

As I said, time would exist, even if we didn't measure it.
However, time exists, as oblivion exists, did God make oblivion too?
To say that God created time -- and I'm not sure yet if you really believe that -- is just more of the same attributing to God that which cannot be easily explained.

Gods are manifestations of desirable characteristics or ancient means to explain natural phenomena or just as ancient metaphors for deep subjects.
examples:

China is right, people created God, not the other way around. The original God was the SUN, which is why so many ancient drawings have the sun in them..they then went to a person with a sun glowing from behind the head. From there the Good (sun) and Evil (darkness) went head to head...now we have heaven and hell...NOT! Hell sells! Pay big and you may go to heaven...as if?!?
