Shakespeare's Mother: The Secret Life of a Tudor Woman



Michael Wood tells the extraordinary story of an ordinary woman in a time of revolution. Born during the reign of Henry VIII, Mary Arden is the daughter of a Warwickshire farmer, but she marries into a new life in the rising Tudor middle class in Stratford-upon-Avon. There she has eight children, three of whom die young. Her husband becomes mayor, but is bankrupted by his shady business dealings. Faced with financial ruin, religious persecution and power politics, the family is the glue that keeps them together until they are rescued by Mary's successful eldest son - William Shakespeare!

Millionaire Hot Seat



An Australian gameshow that is a spin-off of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, the popular global gameshow which started in Britain.

Designed to be a faster-paced game than the traditional format, Hot Seat essentially involves six contestants playing each episode, with each taking turns. The traditional three lifelines are replaced by a single "pass", which can pass the current question to the next contestant in line (who cannot pass the question further). Each question is also given a time limit, with 15 seconds allocated for the first five questions, 30 for the middle five, and 45 for the last five. If a player fails to give out an answer in the time limit, it is considered an automatic pass. If that question cannot be passed on, that player is eliminated and the highest value available is reduced to the next highest amount.

Tipping Point



Popular British quiz show which sees contestants answering general knowledge questions to win counters which they use on a large coin pusher arcade-style machine to try and release counters worth £50 each. The aim is to get to the final and try and win £10,000.

Two Tribes is a fast-paced quiz show where what contestants have in common is just as important as their general knowledge.

So, for example, the contestants who believe in ghosts find themselves on one team, and those who don't believe in ghosts find themselves on the opposing team.

watched part of the girls high school hockey tournament - the improvement in the quality of the girls play compared to the past is very noticeable &looks like further improvement can be expected and soon

A little Gilligans Island this morning. Many had different views on who was the prettiest gal on the show. Some liked Ginger, others liked Maryann. Personally I thought Thurstons Lady Lovey had them both beat.

The Secrets of St Paul's Cathedral



One of Britain's great buildings, and one of the great symbols of the country, the current St Paul's Cathedral, designed by Sir Christopher Wren, replaces the previous one which was lost in the Great Fire of London, although there have been places of worship dedicated to Paul the Apostle at this very site since 604. Completed in 1711, it sits atop Ludgate Hill, the highest point in the City of London. It became a symbol of British defiance during the Blitz, when it stood tall and proud when many of the buildings around it were turned to ashes after Churchill ordered it be protected to keep up the morale of the British people. It still occupies a significant place in the national identity of the British people to this day.

In this series presented by Dallas Campbell, structural engineer Steve Burrows explores the world's most iconic engineering ventures using new 3D laser-scanning technology. In this series, he has already visited sites like the Great Pyramids of Giza and Petra.

In this episode, Steve leads a team of scientists and historians in an investigation of the engineering involved in the construction of the City of London landmark. Using cutting-edge 3D laser-scanning technology, they try to discover how architect Christopher Wren overcame unstable foundations and immense structural problems to support his dome and enable the cathedral to survive a direct hit by a bomb during the Blitz. "The Theory Of Everything" - Was OK, if you like struggling love stories...I was hoping it would be more science based...Stephen Hawking is GREAT, But the Movie...was just OK.

I Survived a Zombie Apocalypse

Episode 1



A reality game show set six months into a zombie outbreak sees ten survivors from across the UK head to Monroe Shopping Village - a rescue point where the army were once based but had to abandon when it was overrun by zombies. They will have to work together to make this their base - securing shelter, safety and essential supplies for the whole group. The army are able to monitor them via satellite and radio - and set missions essential for their survival. Anyone still alive in 7 days will be rescued by army helicopter and taken to one of the global tropical quarantine areas. The survivors just need to avoid the zombies, but they're everywhere, highly infectious and the slightest touch will result in death.
