Sky 1 channel's comedy travel series An Idiot Abroad (2010) saw the travel-averse, bald-headed Manc twonk Karl Pilkington (head like a f*cking orange) being forced by his friends Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant to go abroad to visit each of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

In An Idiot Abroad 2 (2011) our intrepid hero is again sent abroad against his will by Gervais and Merchant, this time to perform activities that he chose from a "bucket list" of "things to do before you die" drawn up by Gervais and Merchant. The series ended up being the most-watched series on non-terrestrial British television since 2005.

In total, all three series of An Idiot Abroad have received widespread critical acclaim, with them being called "the funniest documentary series ever."

Tim Goodman of The Hollywood Reporter praised the show, saying "At times, it’s nearly impossible not to fall apart laughing. An Idiot Abroad is ridiculously funny and even when it’s clear that Gervais and Merchant – pulling the strings back home in England and communicating with Pilkington via cell phone – are having a cruel laugh, it’s nearly impossible not to fall apart laughing at poor Pilkington’s fate."

In this episode, the lovable round-headed Manc goes to Japan to climb Mount Fuji. Whilst there he eats sushi, meets a robot and gets covered in sweat and a ton of flesh by taking part in sumo wrestling.

tonight - watched an old episode of Boris Karloff's "Thriller" tv show that ran in the early 1960s. Rather dated entertainment but it had good acting and settings.

AN IDIOT ABROAD 2

Whale Watching

This time, Karl "Phileas Fogg" Pilkington goes to the frozen wastes of Alaska to see some whales, another item on his "bucket list" - but, as usual, he whinges throughout. Whilst there he is forced to go snow hiking and dog sledding, before travelling to the USA's northernmost city, Barrow, to meet some Inuit people, where he sees the icebound seacoast. He finally sees some whales - whilst being forced to work on a trawler.

Desert Island

Karl ticks off the next item on his bucket list - spending the night on a desert island, in Vanuatu. But, as usual, Ricky and Steve have much more than just that in store for their pal. He suddenly finds himself on the end of a bungee rope in New Zealand and meets a tribe that worships Prince Philip as a god - before they show him how to "a*se-board".

Trans-Siberian Express

Karl travels to Russia, the world's biggest country, to travel the Trans-Siberian Express, the world's longest train journey which goes a third of the way around the planet, another thing on his bucket list. As usual, though, Ricky and Steve have a few surprises in store for him, by getting him to ride a centrifuge at a cosmonaut training facility; getting buried alive; and going over the border to Mongolia to wrestle as part of the Nadaam festival.

Freaks

Karl Pilkington is a fan of freaks and "Lighthouse Man" and "The Pig-Faced Woman of Manchester Square" feature in his list of favourite freaks:

Trying to finish up True blood.

So far it's been great.

Hey Blackie, I didn't know Ricky Gervais was a friend of yours.

I hope he paid you well.

I've taken to this brand new BBC gameshow. Half an hour of fun on an early weekday evening.

TWO TRIBES

Pointless co-presenterRichard Osman now has his own, brand new gameshow, a fast-paced quiz show where what contestants have in common is just as important as their general knowledge.
