Two freebies i’ve watched recently. Both available on STARZ.
Free Solo
An excellent exploration into the character and culture of free soloing; rock climbing without ropes, pinions or safety harnesses. It is centred on the historic ascent of El Capitan in Yosemite by Alex Honnold in 2017. Even though one knows the outcome it is nailbiting. Beautiful cinematography, and, a very intimate portrait of Alex by fellow rock climber Jimmy Chin.
Roger Waters and the Wall
Waters lost his grandfather in the Battle of the Somme in 1916, and his father in Battle of Monte Casino in Italy in 1944. This is a moving meditation and tribute to the fallen, released on the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War, enshrined in a stunning, audio visual extravaganza and performance of the Pink Floyd catalogue.
