LadBaby ft Bents Green School - "Food Aid" (2022)

Last Christmas, LadBaby had what was a record fourth consecutive UK Christmas No1, and became the only artist other than The Beatles to have four UK Christmas No1s. This year they hope to achieve a fifth consecutive UK Christmas No1...

They've done it!

LadBaby react as it's confirmed they are the UK Christmas No1 for a record fifth consecutive year and have beaten The Beatles for most UK Christmas No1s (LadBaby reacted like England had just won the World Cup).

The proceeds from all of LadBaby's singles go to charity...

Couldn't hurt.

The nearest we've had is my parents going through drills at school where they had to practice diving under their desks in case the Soviets lobbed a nuke at us.

Though I'm not sure how being under a desk would have helped had the Tsar Bomba landed nearby.

Depeche Mode - "Ghosts Again"

depeche-mode-memento-mori-950-640x300.jpg

There are now just two of them left since the death of Andy Fletcher in May last year but electropop giants Depeche Mode are due to release their new album "Memento Mori" on 17th March.

(The other former members other than Fletcher haven't died. Vince Clarke, for example, left the band and formed Erasure - see above - with Clarke saying that Depeche Mode's music was too dark for his liking).

Desireless - "Voyage Voyage" (1986)

Probably the most successful French pop hit of the 1980s.

"Here Come The Rain Again" - Eurythmics (1984)

The British electropop band have sold 75 million records globally.

In the video, Annie Lennox seems to be stalked by Dave Stewart with a newfangled piece of technology: a camcorder...

THE BEAUTIFUL SOUTH foto.jpg

The Beautiful South - "Song For Whoever" (1989)

"I love you from the bottom of my pencil case..."

In 1988, East Yorkshire indie rockers The Housemartins split after a short but fairly successful career with a number of hits reflecting their socialist and Christian beliefs. Not long after, some of their members went on to form the band The Beautiful South and one went on to become the DJ Fatboy Slim. Here are The Beautiful South on the BBC's Top of the Pops in 1989 performing their hit about childhood love...
