Don't worry about the whole acre, Uncle. Just worry about the one foot perimeter around your foundation. Shifting houses are no fun at all.

By all means keep the shrubs. Notice how I never told you to cut them down but did note that they give off oxygen? They act as a carbon sink and, as you said, prevent erosion. They don't do much to prevent evaporation though.

Sounds familiar. I once got a weather report from the local mountain rescue H.Q. (in Snowdonia, N. Wales) that read: "Generally clear. Some strong winds with occasional rain, sleet and snow."

Err, thanks. I'll just pack the kitchen sink then, innit?

Yeah I remember that winter of 96, I drovr down from Fort St. John to Kamloops for Christmas and was not bad then on Boxing Day I drove to my moms in Surrey and the snow and wind reminded of up north. White outs and all.Shocked That was the worst winter I remember in the lower mainland. It even went -10 to -15 which was unusual for down here.

Should have seen Langford! We had snow 5' high! Which is absolutely amazing when you consider it was Vancouver Island that got that kind of snow.

Sounds like every harvest I've ever ever participated in.

We will cut them WAY back if winter ever comes. You're not supposed to cut them drastically back until after the sap has gone done.

We are still in shorts and barefooted. I remember that after Labor Day the weather would cool off. Not any more! We have run our A/C till the end of Oct., and now we are going off Daylight Savings.
I can really tell a huge difference due to global warming.

What kind of grass do you grow in Canada? We have Bermuda for the heat, and then St. Augustine for shaded areas.

Sensimillia. 8)

I've never actually paid much attention to kinds of grass. I spent a lot of my life driving a tractor around trying to kill grass because it kept escaping from the pasture and invading the summer fallow. It pisses me off now that I'm supposed to look after it instead.
