We have to pull our troops out of Afghanistan RIGHT NOW!!!!! We have a large amount of soldiers in Afghanistan helping the Afghanis, but who is here to protect us? Who would be here to help keep order and protect Canadians if those terrorists went forward with their plans?

We need to pull our troops out NOW! And if you disagree with that, obviously you care more about the Afghanistan than you do about Canada.
That makes awhole lot of sense.....

That would help Afghanistan now wouldnt it..... Do you people actully know why we are there? WE are rebuilding a nation that constantly has a history of poor government, The Taliban took over fromt he Northern Allince governemtn way back in the day....the NA was hated worldwide and were a very corrupt group...The Taliban were seen as the good guys taking them over, but they flipped the switch and did far worse than the NA. Then the Soviets came and the Taliban witht he Help of the USA fought them off, Now we are there in retalition to the 9/11 terror plot. They had a government that allowed terrorist to thrive and train, and then they attacked the West taking lives, we went over there to stop this from happening....And it looks like its working, We just now have the problem of Terrorist coming about in our own population, people who think it is part of their Religion to attack the western world. I am sure we will have ways to combat that shortly also.

If we took Canada out. We would be saying hey....we think its ok if we let Afghanistan slip back into disorder and forget about evrything we have accomplished....
Voteing population
Working Government
Much lower numbers of Taliban Fighters

Its working In Afghanistan.....Oh but what about all the recent attacks on troops....its simple....They are trying to do a final push they dont got much left but why not try...they will fail.

Now this post being my Second is going to paint me as a Tory.....but I am not that or a Liberal....and definatly not a NDP...I am logical, what works works.....

Some Liberals are being stupid about this war they seem to forget that thye infact sent the troops, but now that...Big "evil" Harper is in power and is going to put some mroe effort into the war on terror its suddenly a bad mistake....And Id like to know why that is.

Sad thing is, I dont see the Liberal Party coming back in Power anytime soon, it seem Harper is pretty much running the show the way it should be ran, he is doing and changeing things and he so far hasnt taken our money and had a scandal. So i say to you all get use to it, we will have a bigger mIlitary, A stronger economy and a lower unemployment rate than ever before...get use to it, besides there isnt anything wrong with that.

Aren't the Canadian Forces better trained for a terrorist attack than the RCMP?

Of course they are. The military goes in shooting and kills the terrorists, the RCMP have to do sensitivity training, ask a bunch of questions, claim diversity is great, have race quotas, and negate the fact we are at war with Islamofacism.

Send the troops in I say.

Actually we're not. The only branch of the Canadian Forces geared towards counter-terrorism is JTF-2, and it's rather small and wide spread right now. JTF-2, as you may or may not know, was spawned in '93 after the RCMP shut down SERT (Special Emergency Response Team). They transfered all FEDERAL counter-terrorism operations to JTF-2. How the RCMP still maintain ERT (i'm sure you can figure out what that stands for) in all the major cities in Canada. They are, without a doubt, better than the general Canadian Forces soldier at counter-terrorism. The best thing you could expect of the CF is some soldiers that are heli-ops trained, jump trained, and skilled in room clearing. We don't practice any actual "counter-terroism" stuff.

Are you killing my jokes?

you should learn history of Afghanistan before saying anything about it's history.

What you said about history of Afhanistan is not right. You must have heard but you mixed the steps. It's like "I went to school, I was born, I graduated the college, I died, I got the job, I got fired, I grew up."

Doesn't make sense, does it?

I wonder is that why they keep asking me to join JTF-2.

I believe you loyalty has to lie with Canada to join the JTF-2... Perphaps you would be better suited for starting a special op's unit with Aeon & Beaver.

I don't think that's fair durka. Jersay IS a serving member of the Canadian Forces, so i'm inclined to believe his loyalties do lie to this Nation. Furthermore there has been nothing in any of his posts to suggest he's of the same ilk as aeon or darkbeaver.

P.S. JTF-2 does not request people to join. They take recommendations via a serving members chain of command. :p

Thank you Mogz. No, I have been asked by an officer and at least several NCMs to try outat least send in my application for JTF-2.

Everyone likes polls that they agree with. I'm no different.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20060609.wxterror-poll10/BNStory/National/home

“The event unto itself seems to have had no galvanizing effect on the population in terms of turning it more anti-immigration or more anti-Muslim,” he said. “If anything, it appears that Canadians have accepted the whole event in stride.”

According to the poll, 71 per cent of Canadians say it's likely that an act of terrorism will take place in Canada within the next few years, up nine percentage points from August of last year. By contrast, 26 per cent say an assault is not likely, down 10 percentage points from the same period.

Canadians also appear to be convinced that Canada will be a target of terrorism because of its presence in Afghanistan. Fifty-six per cent say the Canadian presence there makes an attack more likely, up a substantial 18 percentage points from last year.

Interestingly, however, those same Canadians are also more supportive of the mission, with 48 per cent saying they back sending the troops, compared with 44 per cent who oppose the move. Support now outweighs opposition by four percentage points, compared with earlier this month when opposition outweighed support by 14 points.

Mr. Gregg says the figures show that Canadians are not prepared to use the threat of terrorism as an excuse to get out of Afghanistan. Interestingly, support for the mission has increased the most in the province of Quebec, where 39 per cent support the move, up from 27 per cent last month."

They must have polled more adults.

When Martin gave the CF a 10 billion dollar boost 1/2 went to repair, 1/4 went to all the rest, with 1/4 for the JTF2 alone.

They swelled from about 100 active to 500.

They have all the toys.

The JTF2 were not disturbed from their fortress of solitiude because RCMP & CSIS can handle teenagers....even fanatical ones.
