Um, so we've created another god? What do we call this god? Maybe Biggerisbetterinfoodchemistry? Seems kinda of longish. Or how about Biggerandmorefrankenfoods? Still kind of longish. All that science has come up with is mostly for the good, however a lot of that good has been twisted by businesses seeking the easier, faster dollar. It's a trade off. We keep growing more and more people and mechanizing more and more people out of work. Commercialism runs the "progressed" world. The bottom line is not people anymore; it's profit. And this profit is at the expense of people.
The quality of life is worse. And when I mean the quality of life, I mean the quality of the sum total of life. Has all this technology solved the hunger in Africa? No. IMO, until we solve global problems, the quality of life is not better. Saying life is better is looking at life through a pinhole.
Commercialism is the new god and a lot of people have been sucked into the congregation.
A great example is in Juan's kitchen thread. Tomatoes. I don't want a basketball sized tomato with thick skin, an incredible shelf life, and tastes like paper. I want a tomato that tastes like a tomato. Quality not quantity, that's what makes life good.
