SOme apparently didn't get the message. For that matter wines from Portugal and Spain have country of origin on the labels.

By the way, "Made in..." was invented by the British - but they never intended it to be used as a marketing tool. "Made in Germany" was introduced by the British Merchandise Marks Act in 1887. Back then, Britain feared cheap continental imitations of Sheffield cutlery that flooded the market and wanted non-British products to be labelled.
The whole 'made in EU' is still optional. for now.
Some manufacturers use it to try and disguise things like the VW Touareg and Audii TT are made in Slovakia and Hungary. Or Romanian horse meat being sold as Swedish meatballs.
