5 Things You Might Have Missed in The Walking Dead "Crossed"

1. Officer Dawn is up to something

After episode 4, I was totally prepared to go to war with Officer Dawn, but straight off the bat this episode she made a weird move - after telling an officer to get Carol's life support switched off she then backtracked and gave Beth the key to the drugs cabinet, something she didn't even trust Edwards with.
Maybe Dawn does just want to see a little humanity restored to this crazy world, or maybe her actions have other motivations. Later in the episode, when the three officers are taken hostage by Rick's group, they speak about the growing discontent among the officers over Dawn's leadership, and that they are ready to overthrow her and put Lamson in charge. While they aren't sure if Dawn knows that Lamson is up for her job, I'm willing to bet that she does and offering the key to Beth is the first step toward gaining her trust, maybe hoping that she will have her back in the event of a coup.
2. Father Gabriel still has secrets

Father Gabriel has become the most puzzling character of Season 5. While I initially thought we'd figured out his dark secret earlier in the season (locking helpless people out of the church), there's obviously something deeper, or Gabriel just can't get over his past.
There was a lot of religious iconography in this episode, specifically with Jesus being nailed to the crucifix, this even extended to the episode title, "Crossed." Perhaps the biggest nod to the religion came after Gabriel escaped from the church, crawling under the floorboards, only to immediately stand on a nail. Then to drive the crucifix theme home, he came across a walker who he impaled on a branch, right through her side, just like the holy lance.
The episode ended without us finding out Gabriel's fate, but I'd be willing to bet we'll see him limp back to the church, finally ready to accept help and learn how to survive.
3. Complacency about walkers is surely building to something big

Throughout Season 5 we've seen walkers fast going from very real threat to almost comic relief. Last week Carol and Daryl were actually relieved when a walker snuck up on them as they watched the police offers from afar, and this week Tara made some jokes about walkers being stuck on their way to the river, not even bothering to kill them until they needed to get close.
Perhaps they have reason to be treating walkers as more of a nuisance than a real threat - they're getting weaker, they've become a secondary threat compared to the living, and Bob has been the only main character to succumb to a walker bite in the season so far, and even his death wasn't for nothing when he became the tainted meat the Hunters ingested.
While I would like to think that, I still can't get away from the feeling that this is all intentional and we're going to see some very real walker carnage in the mid-season finale. The confirmation from executive producer, Greg Nicotero that there will be over 800 walkers in the episode, definitely seems to back this up, though it remains to be seen whether or not all those walkers will be present in Atlanta or if it's the hoard near Abraham's group.

4. Ricktatorship is back

Way back before the season started, Andrew Lincoln warned us that we were about to see a newer, darker Rick, and that those who stood in opposition to him would automatically go from being family to a problem.
We definitely saw a glimpse of this dark Rick when he announced his plan for taking over Grady Memorial, which was basically to storm the place and leave a trail of bodies behind him. However, Tyreese - backed by Daryl - forced Rick to try a hostage-swap scenario first, where captured officers would be traded for Beth and Carol. While Rick begrudgingly agreed to this scenario, after the last minute of the episode proved the officers weren't to be trusted, I'm sure this will be the last time Rick compromises on his plans.
5. The clocks reinforced a mid-season finale theory

We've had a lot of glimpses of clocks and watches in Season 5, and while a lot of them have referenced the current episode with the time, the most recent one could be referencing events in future episodes.
Thanks to the Spoiling Dead fans, we got some inside information that it could be Beth who dies in episode 8, the mid-season finale. However it's also been theorized that while Beth appears to die in episode 8, it's actually a cunning mid-season finale cliff hanger, and in episode 10 it's revealed that Beth is actually alive! This theory has only gained more weight with the latest clock sighting in "Crossed," in the scene with Beth and Dr. Edwards the clock in the background pointed to both eight and 10.
For more information on the theory about Beth, take a look over here,

10 Life Lessons The Walking Dead Teaches Us - Page 10 of 10 — WhatCulture.com

And might I add, life lesson 1(a), When the Zombie Apocalypse hits, hook up with a guy that's got a cross bow and knows how to use it. ;)

I've walked dead after 72 hours without sleep. I was hallucinating by that time.

Now as for safety, I can out walk the dead in the daytime and lock my door at night.

And even if they do get me, they might stink a little much but they have no dental plans.

beth rhymes with death. ;)

Tennessee attraction offers Zombie Santa and undead elves for charity

NASHVILLE - A Nashville-area haunted house is getting into the Christmas spirit this weekend, with Zombie Santa, his undead elves and one demonic reindeer going on the attack for fun and charity.
"Instead of Christmas cheer, we are spreading some holiday fear," said Carroll Moore, who is turning his Halloween season "
Death Yard Haunted Attraction" in Hendersonville into a Yuletide horror show this Friday and Saturday.
For $10 and an unwrapped new toy, visitors can pass through the 13,000-square-foot warehouse northeast of Nashville crammed with horrors. For $5 more, they can go to the paintball range just outside and take 15 shots at Zombie Santa and his friends.
"You can unload on the undead," Moore said. "Maybe Santa Claus wasn't good to you last year."
The unwrapped new toys will go to Last Minute Toy Store, which operates out of a Nashville church and gives parents who cannot afford toys a chance to look for things their children might want, for no cost.
Moore said he hopes his Zombie Christmas attraction will become just as much a holiday tradition as driving around to look at lights or going to see the Rockettes.
Moore is also offering chainsaw-wielding maniacs and killer clowns, dressed for the holidays.
Nita Haywood, who helps run the Last Minute Toy Store at the 61st Avenue United Methodist Church, where she is director of children, youth and family ministries, said she will visit Horrific Haunted Holiday.
"It's different, but new toys are new toys. And what a way to get teens involved," she said.

The cat came back ... from the dead.
The owners of a cat in Florida buried their pet after it was hit by a car and found lifeless, the
Humane Society of Tampa Bay wrote on its blog.
Five days later, the cat showed up in their neighbour's yard after digging itself out of the grave.
The Humane Society says the cat was weak, dehydrated and in need of veterinary care.
"We have seen many amazing cases at our full-service veterinary clinic, but this situation may take the cake," the society wrote.
Unable to afford the fees at other clinics, the owners brought he cat to the humane society for care.
The cat is being treated for a broken jaw, open facial wounds and a serious eye wound. The cat was scheduled for surgery to remove the damaged eye on Tuesday but is expected to recover fully otherwise and return home.

'Zombie cat' hit with custody motion

TAMPA - The Florida cat that crawled out of its grave after a traffic accident is now ensnared in a legal dispute over custody involving its owner and the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.
Bart the cat, nicknamed "zombie cat" on social media, made international headlines last month when he surfaced five days after he was hit by a car and buried for dead.
He was initially expected to return home after surgery at the Humane Society's veterinary clinic, where Bart was treated for a broken jaw and facial injuries. One of his eyes had to be removed.
But the agency, which is chronicling Bart's recovery online in a blog, Blog | The Humane Society of Tampa Bay, decided not to return the cat to its owner after learning more about "circumstances leading up to his burial," the agency said.
Bart's owner, Ellis Hutson of Tampa, filed a court motion earlier this week to demand the return of the black and white pet. Hutson claimed the society's leadership sought to use Bart for fundraising, according to court filings provided to Reuters by the Humane Society.
The motion said Bart's owner was not being allowed to visit the feline, nor receiving updates about his condition. Hutson could not immediately be reached for comment.
The Humane Society disclosed the legal action on its website and said it reviewing legal options. Bart remained in the agency's care on Wednesday, officials said.
The agency has received donations from around the world that helped to pay for Bart's care, according to its blog, which earlier had noted that Bart's owner could not afford other veterinary providers.
In a later blog post, the society said animal welfare investigators were going to evaluate the Hutson home.
A welfare check was conducted at the residence, according to the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center. A spokeswoman said officers found two mixed-breed dogs in good health and there is no investigation.

I started watching after one of my other half's work mates turned her onto it. I drive her crazy because I tend to pick it apart. Don't they ever check the gas in vehicles they take ? Why would someone hand off an assault rifle and take a crossbow with two bolts ? Why are they carrying that kid like that, why not get a stroller or a cart or even one of these backpack like things ?
