We are part of a group (group of doctors, that is), so I assume we would be mostly sightseeing and there won’t be much mixing with the local population. But I have been told to be extremely careful, particularly in Cairo, to watch out for pick pockets.

If you have lived 17 months in Egypt, you may have felt right at home there, I am told that Egypt is similar to India.

Incidentally, if you lived in Egypt, I assume you have been to Jordan, to Dead Sea and to Petra. That is where we are going after Egypt.

What a happy little house husband you must be. So will you go sightseeing and shopping while the wife is working her tail off?

Working? I imagine it's a CME event - 'continuing medical education', where the docs sit in seminars for a couple of hours a day, it's essentially a tax-write off vacation.

So NIMBY gets to skip off with the other spouses and shop while his wife is in seminars.

You got it, TenPenny. That is exactly how it works out. We did Alaska cruise and the trip to Galapagos Islands that way.

Egypt is an incredible place to visit. As are Amman, Petra in Jordan, and Beirut in Lebanon . Turkey is sooo cool. I love travelling middle east but refuse to step foot in Israel

I didn't see any boogeymen

You may be right petros (about the boogeymen), but that is what I was told. I will find out firsthand soon enough.

And I have heard good things about Turkey.

Doctors at least have a regular course, with lectures ( a couple of hours every evening or night). Lawyers don’t bother with even that. My accountant told me that lawyers usually arrange a reception with the lawyers and judges in the area they are visiting. They call that seminar.

So doctors at least learn something, for lawyers it is almost pure vacation (and tax deductible).

Why do you feel the need to attack another profession? Feeling a little sensitive, are we?

As for what your accountant tells you that lawyers do, that's what we call anecdotal, and it carries no weight. You'll have to post sources from reputable publications for your assertions.

And just how was that attacking another profession? That was a statement of fact, I wish doctors would do that as well.

I think you are a tad confused as to when evidence is required to support an assertion. In the present case, I don’t need any evidence. If you don’t want to believe me, it is all the same to me, I couldn’t care less.

Just as if you don’t want to believe me that we are visiting Egypt and Jordan shortly, that is your affair, I couldn’t care less.

In such instances, no evidence is required.
