Vibrator giveaway shut down in NYC

A vibrator giveaway that attracted long lines for 10,000 free sex toys came to an abrupt end when New York City told the promoters to pack it up.


The Trojan condom company set up "Pleasure Carts" on Wednesday in two Manhattan neighbourhoods. Nearly 300 people had lined up at each of the hot dog-style carts.


According to the New York Post newspaper, a city representative told the promoters to shut down because of crowds.


One of those on line, Melody Henry, grumbled that Mayor Michael Bloomberg "doesn't want anyone to have fun."


The city says the promotional event could resume at a later date with proper permits.

New York mayor agrees not to shut down vibrator giveaway

Frustrated New Yorkers will get their buzz back Thursday after the mayor’s office agreed not to pull the plug on a free giveaway of vibrators.

The Trojan condom company set up “Pleasure Carts” on Wednesday in two Manhattan neighbourhoods. Nearly 300 people had lined up at each of the hot dog-style carts.

The action had barely started before Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s office interrupted, citing activity “which impeded pedestrian and street traffic.”

By Thursday morning, though, the city had a smile back on its face. Trojan will be allowed to resume its giveaway “later today with proper permits,” Mr. Bloomberg’s office said.

See someone is out to demean hot dog carts. Did you notice they used the line
hot dog style carts were set up. God what a story, the politicians can't win this.
If it was permitted to continue without permits it would make the nightly news
everywhere. If they shut it down it would make the nightly news everywhere.
What surprises me is guns are allowed everywhere including the streets but
somehow vibrators are much more dangerous.
