The difference between RCMP 50 odd years back and today's is simply numbers, along with a populace and media that dares to turn on the lights.
In light of my contention i would suggest that "some" protection needs to be provided to members in order to prevent witch hunts resulting from what could be construed as normal small human transgressions but certainly not the virtual immunity that has established itself.
