The $400 Billion Food Problem Not Enough Of Us Are Talking About

Professor Emily Broad Leib reads the statistics about the 1 billion people going hungry every year—and 1.3 billion tons of food going unused—and shakes her head.

Most of the $1 billion are not in places where they could take advantage of the food being wasted. It's a distribution problem. Here most food banks don't accept food that would be wasted since it is usually at or beyond it's expiry date.

They eat bugs.

With drought being an issue this summer on the Prairie there will be a grasshopper infestation. Millions of tonnes of tastie bugs will go to waste.

What a shame.

I see the libertarian position is not well defended on this one.

Noted.

Carry on.
