As a prairie lad, we used to salute the flag.
"I salute the flag, the emblem of our country."
Then we would sing "The Maple Leaf Forever" and "O Canada."

From time to time, the teacher would remind us that our comrades in the States also recited a pledge. Let's see if I remember; it's been ages...
"I pledge a legion's two the flag , end the country four witch's hands." Help me out here...

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Look I know you're in love with your God..

I'm Canadian Boomer, not American. I don't buy into the cult of personality, or choosing political bents before my fellow citizens. Obama's the president of the US, no more, no less. He's also not the first president who's been in office when these sorts of legal challenges have arisen. The fact that this is your reply speaks volumes.

In Boomerworld, if you don't foam at the mouth with Obama Derangement Syndrome, you're an Obama-loving Kenyan Muslim Socialist.

Which is, of course, a symptom of Obama Derangement Syndrome, also called Baracknophobia.

Obama will probably replace the current one, with the socialist rendition.. ;)

..anyone see Obama's new addition to the White House.. his Son. lol

What is Socialist about this- You would not have know if I had not brought it forwards now would ya.

I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Oh yes- Another History lesson.
Take your time to read & digest it.

As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion,—as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen [Muslims],—and as the said States never entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahometan [Mohammedan] nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

And yet if taking "Under God" off the Pledge of Allegiance was against the US Constitution I wouldn't hear you and the other Christianophobes complaining about the law not prevailing.
It was added in 1942- Wonder why.........................

We live in different times. Before we all join hands and sing hymns we should
remember, the folks who crafted the constitution many were slaveholders the
most hypocritical people and people who were immoral. Slavery was and is
immoral. For them to be throwing God around as their moral compass is just
nonsense. The words under God, and So Help Me God were not done for
praise or moral guidance. These phrases and punch lines were enacted to
ensure they could use religion to control the people. Its unfortunate but its true.

The other thing that gets me is all these people who bemoan the fact Christianity
is under attack, are the same people who used religion to control people. Now of
course, many Christians and other wise don't care about the old ways. There were
thousands who brought people to America to work in lower paid jobs and so on,
who had different views of religion and customs, but they worked cheap and cheap
was the prevailing attitude. Now they have different cultures here who want their
say, they want their ways recognized and they don't want to work for Cheap either.
Terrible thing when shortcomings catch up to hypocrites.

Those that crafted that most unique of Documents, copied by many others, did not write the Pledge of Allegiance.
And they used the term - Creator.

It was added in 1942- Wonder why.........................
It was added in '54 by a Joint Resolution of Congress.

If you're going to argue about stupid sh*t that ain't none of your business anyhow, at least get your facts right.

83RD UNITED STATES CONGRESS
2ND SESSION

Joint Resolution
To amend the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
That section 7 of the joint resolution entitled ``Joint resolution to codify and emphasize existing rules and customs pertaining to the display and use of the flag of the United States of America´´, approved June 22, 1942, as amended (36 U. S. C., sec. 172), is amended to read as follows:

``Sec. 7. The following is designated as the pledge of allegiance to the flag, ‘I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all’. Such pledge should be rendered by standing with the right hand over the heart. However, civilians will always show full respect to the flag when the pledge is given by merely standing at attention, men removing the headdress. Persons in uniform shall render the military salute.´´

Approved June 14, 1954.

This is Obama's fault? No one ever pressed a court case like this under another president? What?
Of course this is Obama's fault. Everything is Obama's fault from the Black Plague forward. Try to keep up.

Until the next guy gets in, then everyone defending the current guy blames the new guy and everyone blaming the current guy will defend the new guy.

It's kind of like watching children fighting over a toy, but with more temper tantrums and a lot more crying.

Its as bad as the Canadian National Anthem they added the God stuff later
to impress some voters I suppose. God this and God that, it's all fluff.
I am not an atheist however I don't think we need the God in the pledge and
we don't need the songs of the nation turning into prayers and even on the
witness stand we hear so help me God. Now how significant is that?
If someone doesn't believe in God it means nothing. If someone believes in
God and happens to be a liar it won't stop them from not being truthful.
Its nonsense

it drives me fuking crazy, there's no logic involved... although have to say, I was that way about little Shrub but he didn't have two brain cells to rub together and my feelings for him came about as close as it is possible to hating a stranger who is pitifully challenged.
