Jim......why not try to elaborate what the bush plan is in Iraq??

Until the collective "we" are privy to this "plan"......we are in the dark of lies......as "we" have been since he made up his mind to invade Iraq.

The US is killing Iraqis too. Blaming the insurgents no longer cuts it . and it is just more spin from the bush regime. Would there be any insurgents if bush had not been so testosterone laden to invade??? There was NO JUSTIFIABLE reason to militarily invade Iraq in this manner and create the environment that has ensued. This includes the kidnappings, beheadings and everything else that the influx of "terrorists" has created.

did bush REALLY believe that the Iraqis would simply surrender and bring the troops all the hearts and flowers they could handle???

reality check.

Of course the BIG QUESTION is: what now??? and bush ain't saying. Maybe he doesn't have a clue and is still resorting to platitudes.

we don't KNOW that for a fact. We have no idea of what the Iraqis want for themselves now......and how they want to go about achieving those aims. All we hear about is what bush wants for them. No way to accurately assess the situation.

Hah! what a load.... the people that are willing to strap 20 pounds of plastic explosives to their rib-cages, and push the button when they get in the cafe, are NOT interested in "getting a good job and settling down with Ruth and the kids, and building a deck out back".........

Oh, give your head a shake...... they CAN'T WAIT for the U.S. to pull out! Then the whole place becomes a summer-fair.....
"Have all the fun you want, do whatever you like! Smash heads, chop off hands, shoot women in the back of the head in Soccer Stadiums, just like the Afghani Taliban a few years back! It's a PARTY! Until whatever it is that we believe in takes root, or just plain takes over! "

Good God, you have short vision.......

LOOK, OB! I dont think they should be there either! I also firmly believe that the Bush group (especially his advisors) fed Bush a load of crap.... and being too dumb to cut up a baked potato, he went along with it. (Plus he had a "that guy wanted to kill my Dad" mentality .....great for the Leader of the Free World!)

But that fact is - the USA are THERE! And once you commit troops, you fuckin' back 'em up! These are brave people who are putting their lives on the line, because they took an oath to, and they don't take that oath lightly.
THEY ARE DOING THEIR JOBS.

Anyone that knocks them, I will kick in the nuts until they sing Alto...

The worst part of the VietNam experience, that I remember, was that young people got sent over there, only to be totally ignored! NOBODY IN THE PENTAGON GAVE A SHIT!

That must never happen again..... Powell was right, when he (apparently) told Bush; "If you break it, you own it." THEY ARE THERE - THEY GOTTA FIX IT! It doesnt matter HOW many years it takes..... they started it, they finish it.

Let the American voter decide what, if any, wisdom was behind the idea....

hmm. Well, from what i have read .......in many sources , the common denominator is that bush WANTED to invade Iraq since before he took office. All he needed was an opportunity that served as an excuse. What his REAL motives were, is not known. Only a few of his closest "advisors " who were in on this idea supported it. Others cautioned him.....but he would not listen to anyone.

but yes, he broke it ......and somehow he must fix it. It rests entirely on how he manages it from now on. It is horrifying to see the carnage that has resulted out of bush's selfish plans. Sadly, it is a done thing .......and the most constructive resolution must be found..........not some stupid platitudes that he keeps repeating. the collective "we" and mostly the Iraqis deserve better than that.......which would be something of substance.

Yes, well I always WANTED to be Pallidan, in the old TV series (probably way too long ago for you, but he was a "For-Hire" gunslinger in the Old West, but also had a conscience; turned down certain jobs.)

Bush, I think, watched too many Audie Murphy movies as a kid. John Wayne, too.

RE: US Invasion of Iraq-U

There would not be a civil war brewing and America would not of created insurgents if they did not illegally invade and illegally occupy Iraq.

Come on now, Bushie should of know the "fringe" would go after their soldiers if they invaded a middle east country, they hate Americans and America made it easy by sending Americans to them. Innocent young Americans who are dying for no other reason than to soothe "W's" ego.

Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice and Rove all have blood on their hands. I wonder why they do not send their children and/or grandchildren, to join the Army?

Elaborate on a plan ?

The enormity of that simple innocence of that question comes out like a tsunami.

I'd like to see the baton in America pass on to Joe Biden, Democrat of Delaware.

I had only wished he had been included in the inner circle to make the Bush Administration think ahead further.

He was always the loyal opposition with the most brains.

The plan is this, Ocean Breeze.

1. Start a parade of web links against the clowns coming in from Iraq's neighbors.

2. Start a parade of condemnation at those who finance those clowns.

3. Start a TV show like the most popular one in Baghdad where the Iraqis watch justice met out to those clowns who kill fellow Iraqis.

4. Show film after film on the world wide web of 10 million Iraqi voters spitting on the dead body parts of a clown who blew his horn all over the pavement in front of a voting station.

5. Start a conversation about how Iraq can get a new start again, which everyone seems to want but won't lift a finger to do, because they have such a noble reason not to do so.

6. Announce to every Iraqi citizen that no other citizen of the world will vote for a leader who will send troops to help kill the clowns.

7. Announce to every Iraqi citizen that no troops will come even if American troops leave.

a better plan might be : get rid of the bush administration, bring in some new people, who are objective, can evaluate this whole situation pragmatically and make some definitive plans that are openly stated..........so the world/Iraq knows what is going on and what they might anticipate in the future. Stop gap measures are just that.......and don't deal with the entire scenario.

someone is making sense after all this mess. Support the Iraqis?? You bet. Support their evolution into an independant nation which retains its culture, its uniqueness.??? You bet.

but no one in their right mind can ever condone the method that the USG used . the lies they told, to use such drastic action in another nation. This kind of conduct must not repeat itself. There are so many more constructive methods to fascilitate change.... Overly aggressive tactics are far too destructive .

the Iraqis are the ones that must be the "winners" in all of this. The important "we" now is the world united with the Iraqis to move forward. The "we" is NOT the USG. The USG does not represent either the Iraqis or the world at large.

..........while bush and his war loving bandits , must atone for their misconduct. International law must prevail.....if humanity on this planet is to evolve towards a more peaceful co-existence.

Hopefully the USG will learn a darned good lesson from all this , and gain a healthier perspective about how they have abused their power, and gain some sensitivity for the other nations on this planet.
