It came after the authorities found a tunnel from BC going through the border and came out in a house in the US. The tunnel has been filled since; it was fairly sophisticated with lights and ventilation installed, reinforced with wood, metal and concrete; equipped with a cart to transport people and drugs.

Emery is the leader of BC Marihuana Party.

Drugs are a big thing here. The other night (it was still bright at 7.30pm) I walked home from the skytrain and a guy muttered if I wanted to buy "something". I quickly said no and before I could walk away, he said: "do you want sex?" 8O

I say recall parliament, rush through legislation to legalize marijuana, draft the appropriate exemption for the U.N. agreement and then start the process to have George Bush extradited for War Crimes.
Get off your knees Canada. It's disgusting.

I'm all for legalization but it is still currently against the law to grow and sell pot. If he did sell seeds across the border, that's essentially sumggling, which is obviously a huge no no.

It would be a tremendous political statement for Canada to just let him go, but then they'd have to release every other pot convictee, and drop all other pending charges. I don't think that's likely to happen.

Politically, I wish Emery all the best. Legally, he's cooked himself up some hot water.

Answer - seize the moment and take back our Nation.

Canada could always return the favour and start searching all U.S.-plated vehicles coming over the border and arresting the people with guns on board instead of confiscating them or sending the people back. Ermm we shoulda been doing this for the past few decades anyway.

excellent idea.  ..but the fallout from that could backfire. Can't you just hear them yanks screaming their rights and platitudes ??? Not sure one really wants a jail ful of yanks on CA territory. Might make it a "target".....and who needs even more problems?? Just send them and their silly guns BACK. Firmly.

Then have your "border patrol" do their jobs and keep the guns out.

they DO that . The confiscate them.or send the parties back. Maybe a firmer statement should be made. But as long as they keep doing their job , they DO keep US guns out.

RE: US invasion into Cana

ITN,

The point I was trying to make, apparently very poorly, was that we have strict gun control laws here while in the U.S. they are as abundant as bubblegum yet we don't go after people selling them in border towns even if they openly state "Hell ya, I sell guns to Canucks". We don't have any right to do so as the U.S. is a sovereign country who's laws on this particular matter happen to differ widely from our own. Reverse the countries and change guns to pot and it's the same thing.

U.S. wants to treat us like they treat Columbia or Panama. Well its time politicians in this country stood up for Canada. I think it is smoke and mirrors. Marc Emery is a voice of political dissent so the U.S. and their Canadian lackies want to silence that voice. I want to protest his arrest and resist his extradition.

those bastards think they are the moral authority of the world. Well they are morally bankrupt. Under no cirmustances should a Canadian be extradited to the U.S. for things that did not happen on American soil. These Americans have kidnapped our citizens before. One was driven to Florida for charges.. This man is a voice of reason in a contentious issue and deserves the full protection of our government and of our People. I will start writing to Politicians as I abhour this invasion on civil rights. I will stand in protest. Lets hear from politicians of conscience.

Indeed. Saw a bit on the news tonight , with a gathering group of protestors carrying banners: "US GO HOME". "US STAY AWAY "

This is so childish. What if the US said - "Boycott Canada!" No movies, no cars, no food, no clothes, no nothing. How silly.

This isn't about movies and cars, food and clothes though bulldog...

This is about the US extraditing a Canadian citizen for bullshit crimes that may or may not have been committed in Canada...

The US law enforcement has no jurisdiction here...and it makes me sick to my stomach that the RCMP would have gone along with them...YET AGAIN!!

swirling in the abyss of nowhere la
It is just plain silly...this whole flair up...the fact is he was trafficing seeds...and can be charged for it here...we don't need the US to hold our hand, or stick their nose in because we decriminalised possession

Or perhaps they are aware of certain things that we aren't and are serving the Canadian people.

Perhaps, but is it easier to believe the RCMP is full of traitors and bow down to a foreign authority? Is that what you prefer to believe?

Don't be obtuse ITN...Emery is a prominent and politically active figure...and it's no secret that his views directly oppose those coming out of the White House...so he is yet another political prisoner that my government will do nothing to help...

OK, I'll be a little more obtuse since you fancy personal attacks.
It's easier for you to believe, your government is full of traitors, and yet Canadians have voted for the same party for 12 years. It's easier for you to believe that your government has ordered the RCMP to break Canadian laws and extradite a Canadian citizen to a foreign country.

It's easier for me to believe if the RCMP is arresting someone for providing illegal subtances across the border that an extradition treaty comes into play.

Answer - Yes! The RCMP were burning burns in Quebec and blaming the FLQ. They are culpable in the Arar dibocle. They usurped the civil rights of a Journalist to grab documents that implicated Cretien in high crimes. They assaulted Canadian citizens in Vancouver and denied civil rights to the demonstrators there and in Quebec city.

Yes...I do believe that...I believe my government caved to pressure from yours, and the RCMP (read government's bitch) did what they were told...just like they did with Maher Arar...

I wonder where your jack-booted fascist pig-f*ckers will be sending Emery to be tortured...
