World War 2 was won on the Eastern Front. It was won at the Battles of Stalingrad, Kursk, Berlin by the Red Army.... with 20 million Russian dead.

The Battles of Britain (Air War), Normandy, the Bulge and the Rhine were all sideshows to the War in the East.
I thought it was won when we vaporized two cities.

No, the War, even with Japan, was over and Japan was attempting to surrender through 3rd parties when Truman and U.S. military decided they had a prime opportunity to vapourize a couple hundred thousand slants at almost no cost... and set themselves up an imperial economic juggernaut in the post war world.. whom no one would dare challenge.

It worked.. for a while.

Whaddaya mean "almost no cost?" Do you have ANY IDEA how much the Manhattan Project cost?

As to the "attempting to surrender," surrendering's kinda like getting laid. . . timing is everything.

To the benefit of West Berlin, Western Europe, and ultimately Eastern Europe.

Nope... revisionism just doesn't cut it. Japan wanted a negotiated end of the war and that simply wasn't going to happen. You're parroting the propaganda that Stalin rolled out.

You have some good points here for sure. The Soviets did suffer the most of all of the allies where Germany is concerned and they did eventually start rolling the Germans back after Stalingrad.

Imagine what the Germans could have thrown at the Soviets if there was no war in N. Africa, Italy, and then Western Europe? If the Germans focused only on the USSR and did not roll all over Europe and N. Africa... yikes. Stalin was pressuring the Anglo-Allies for a second front to take the pressure off.
