Having lived in Calgary for three L*O*N*G years .....a long time ago......found I could not rely on the Stampede for "breaking news"... :wink:

This is great news. I hope however that it does not mean a return to business as usual from before the closure. Alberta has built a lot of meat packing capacty as a result of the closure. I hope that when Alberta (and BC, Sask etc.) farmers once again are able to ship live beef to the states, they do not forget the Canadian meat processors. Cut and packaged beef is a value added product that employs more Canadians.

We need to keep increasing our own capacity, that's for sure. We also need to deal a lot more with the 50-some countries that opened their borders to us long before the US did. They are interested in packaged meat, not live cattle, so that works well with value-added industry.

agree with both of ya. We must not "put all our eggs in one basket" so to speak. We can use what we have done during the closure and expand from it. ......and decrease the "dependancy" on the US. Reverting back is not an option now.
