Actually the initial pay raises began to pay them enough so the average person
could be elected and afford to have a home in the riding and maintain a place in
Ottawa. I don't want to see the pay so low ordinary people can't take part in the
decision making process, however this has become totally out of hand.
The other problem is the cost of getting the nomination or the leadership is now
out of reach of the average person, therefore they are above us and should be
paid a superior wage. This has now become an outrage.
I think we should be happy they don't want the same wage as hockey players.
Stop complaining and count your blessings.
