You missed my point. Politicians? Would you get the top notch surgeon looking after you like Harpy would?
Back to the sports star. Surgeon Joe has 25 patients to see on Monday. Sunday, Fred Sports Star injures himself in a manner the same as Surgeon Joe's patients. Surgeon Joe is the best in the country. Would Fred Sports Star's handler make an appointment and would Fred Sports Star squeeze into the lineup at Surgeon Joe's or would he have to wait?

all of the sports stars have their express method of getting
to the surgeon, always, their organizations want them back
in action quickly, so they have their 'set ups', allready
in place, no waiting for anything 'medical'too much money
tied up in these players, they don't want them sitting out.
How they do it I don't know, but I'm sure the word 'money'
is in there somewhere.

Why must they be similar as long as they are compatible?

In a two tier system, you pay for the government health care as well as you buy private insurance. But what you are proposing is something different.

I don't see it going down well across the border. Americans don't like to admit that somebody else could have a better idea than them.

Nothing to do with who may or may not have a better plan, the problem with what the democrats want to do is that there will be no choice, you either take there plan of be fined for 1.) having a better plan, 2.) not having a plan at all. There may be compromises between what it is and what we will end up getting, but right now we haven't heard anything yet from President Obama.

I don't see how something like this would benefit Canadians. Why should we even consider this sort of thing?

Yup. And I think in the case of politicians butting in lines is because of influence.
My basic point boils down to the fact that "universal" healthcare, in an equality sense, doesn't exist and never will in Canada.
In the meantime, the gov't will likely be spending the bulk of its budget on healthcare in the near future and to me that's a spooky prospect. I can see our nat'l debt doing the same as Bush's version of the American nat'l debt.
