Ron, I don't think naming the football team in Edmonton after a pastry will fly, even though that delicacy is respected in Alberta's north. Elephant ears is also the name of a spring flower...

However, if you permit me, I do have some suggestions about the Regina team. In its early years it was called the Regina Rugby Club - quite respectable but boring. Nevertheless, the name change to the Roughriders was an affront to all Canadians. Why name the team after the 1st United States Volunteer Cavalry - a foreign force that suggests disrespect to and subjugation of North American Aboriginal Peoples?

The Regina Monologues would be an appropriate compromise.

As far as the issue, there's no reason for me to care. Heck, I call 'em the Redskins myself. Nobody cares what a 3-13 team does. And as for me, casual racism is a staple. The shock would be getting through a day without encountering it.
